Original 1980's tartan interior now incorporating 6spd box and additional stack boost guage. I have a freshly retrimmed ur 20V steering wheel to fit yet, and some tidying to do.

Some good progress here. It's nice to see some shiney fresh parts on that car. I am not sure if I missed it in previous posts, but are you getting a max HP tune, or will it be a mild one?

Do you also have more pictures of your downpipe routing? I heard 3" was kinda tricky on the UrQ
        Cheers

          Thanks for the positive comments

Wastegate spring is a 1.9 BAR version for once it's run in, then it should be pretty fast.

As for a max hp tune, I'm not sure really. Just the best all round drivable package, anything over 400bhp with lots of torque and fast spool up. The magic 450 would be nice though

But yes, definately want to see what it'll do! If you look at the origional engine spec, plan was to build it strong. I'm sure I could try for bigger figures if a bigger turbo was used, but I wanted drivable power with good torque.

Bear in mind it's quite a bit lighter than an S2, at about 1300KG. No cats are needed either

The downpipe was a bitch to fit apparantly, this is just one of the reasons why I have used someone elses experience and expertise who works on these cars regularly. It had to carefully have small slots cut into it and be re welded to make the fit just so. (it was an 034 downpipe) Clearance of the CV joint is pretty tight as you would expect, but its as good as can be.

                Downpipe was this one:http://www.034motorsport.com/engine-...rbo-p-504.html

Just had a look on the same site and found this dammit! http://www.034motorsport.com/turboch...o-p-21267.html

There's always something newer and better I guess, but a bit upsetting as I have not even used my GT3071R yet and would have bought the above instead....

All work has been done by Pete Berry at white Cottage Quattros. I provided most of the parts, and he has used his experience to good effect

I had the same downpipe and it also did not fit the S2. It's made for the AAN-only

So, after owning this car for quite a few years now, I finally got the allingment done

My basis for not doing it before was that the tyres wear evenly and it seems ok. Since fitting the H&R springs to complement the Konid dampers and re bushing of a couple of years ago I thought I'd better get it checked as it now rides lower.

What a difference! much more stable now. I drove up to see Roger Galvin at Quattro Workshop and he did a great job. The rears were toe'd in a little too much, and the front was running too much negative camber. All makes sense really, as it felt a little unstable and the back seemed to be doing something different to the front.

The front steering rod had to be taken off and un seized, and we went straight for new rear track rod arms to save the extra time of tyring to free off seized old ones, one of the ball joins was pretty knackered in any case.

Also changed the Power steering pump this weekend as it was getting rather noisy. I think this is because I stuck to ATF (it runs a S4/S6 pump but the rest of the system is as before) I think the ATF was eating the pump seals and the pump was a little tired in any case.

Fitted a secondhand one (thanks spink) and have flushed the sytem and am now running green mineral oil.

I also spent some time adjusting the gear linkage and cage, it's a slight compromise between reverse and 6th being stiff.

More pictures to come when I get round to uploading.

In other news I'm still waiting for a remap from MRC once they get there harware fixed, no idea whether this is imminet or not. I've done 2-3 thousand miles quite happily ironing out various small issues which is good, but I want to get the power sorted

First time i have seen the pictures, looks great. Not sure if its the same on an S2 but the tracking makes a world of difference on a UR.

If you love it now, you wait until its mapped....

He has indeed. I've used Pete for all major jobs in the past few years and he has always done a great job. We discussed what parts we thought were best, and both he and I sourced loads of parts, and he just made it all work

His experience with all five cylinder audi's was put to good use, he made use of various parts/told me what I needed to get.

I'd like to thank everyone here for being so helpful, LOTS of the parts were bought off the forum for reasonable prices.

Well, looks like I may be waiting some time to get it mapped.

I could do with some advice though, I'm planning to go to le mans in the car, and if I take it don't want to worry about pootleing about.

At the moment the engine has the standard waste gate spring, injectors and ECU.

I've started to drive the car harder and it goes pretty well, but. With the much bigger turbo, shorter air inlet etc is there any chance it could be running lean?

I mean, its sucking in all that air, but is the fueling adequate!? I f not then I'd be best not to take it, as I will be driving it quite hard, using all of the performance.

I was thinking that if I bought/ begged/borrowed a wideband guage it would put my mind to rest?

Mappers have said to drive it gently.

I ran on a custom 1.5bar K24 map with my GT3071R for about a week. I took it easy most of the time, and misbehaved a few times too. Mihnea checked it out before fitting big injectors and remapping, and actually it wasn't running dangerously lean through the rev range.

I'm not saying that you'll be fine, and his advice was the same - no point in risking it - but it was surprising how well it ran. I did have a little bit of surging to 1.6 bar when being naughty though.

                                Time for a much needed update;

                                A few small jobs;

Re adjusted 034 short shift kit and replaced the rear pivot bush for what its worth (didnt seem to make any reall difference)

Fitted a bran d new RS2 Maf ready for mapping (old one seemed ok but had my doubts)

Worked the wagner manifold down to a better finish, or at least tried to with wet and dry. Then put a small amount of JB weld on to fill the diagonal break near the throttle body. Then cleaned and sparyed with high temp aluminum effect paint. Not 100% happy but it doesnt look bad.

Went for a for wheel allingment at Quattro Workshop (note new tie rear tie rods as the old ones were seized solid and the ball joints not so good) The steering rod for the fronthad to come off too so that it could be heated and beaten enough to free up. Obviously not been moved in years.
