Yup, looks like a front ARB (it hooks over the driveshaft, and the droplinks are on the front of the strut, so I guess the struts have been swapped side to side.
That would explain a few of the cars handling characteristics.
Progress has been slow, lots of other things in life getting in the way
Spent a couple of evenings sanding/filling and got to this;
Its not perfect, I have a couple of metal high spots, so would really need to start over Decided I will just live with it.
Arch, I lost the flat face and tapered it by accident
This is built up to match the bumper.
So at this point I was going to fill a couple of scratches/pin holes with knifing putty and then final prime paint.
However I moved the car out the garage to get a new tool in, the rear calipers are partially seized and I did not pull the handbrake hard enough, and the car rolled into the house after sitting for a bit
Dented the bit I had just fixed, and crunched the spoiler
I nearly lost it completely, I was so close to just smashing the car for a few minutes. My A4 also split a rad hose and dumped its coolant on the motorway this afternoon, so not a big car fan right now
So need to rip off the filler, smash the dent out, fill and skim again. Luckily my dad will give me a hand to glass the spoiler as he used to do a lot of glassfibre work, one piece mini front ends etc.
And onto the good, mid rise scissor lift came up for sale locally for a good price, and the seller could deliver
This is the sill 90cm from the ground, its as high as I can lift inside without touching the roof. Much nicer than jack/axle stands, and lifts very quickly/easily.
Access is not bad, enough space to drop a suframe/diff/gearbox. Not great for exhaust/fuel/brake lines.
****** man! That sucks about the dentage, i think i would have cried! Was looking really good. The lift looks cool as well.,are you going to lift the garage roof when rebuilding it? I'll need to make appoint of coming through for that head soon.
Gutted for you Andy, at least it wasn't right after you painted it though, I am sure you will have it looking right as rain in no time
The lift looks cool, I was eyeing those up recently, looks like a good piece of kit.... mind your fingers

I picked up the battery to chuck it through the glass (glad I didn't now), sooo angry for 10 minutes or so.
I was thinking I now need an Apex roof, but just jacking it up and fitting a frame too lift it a few feet could work Anyway one thing at a time.
