The '2 ton bugswatter' - back for a gentle stroke

Another thing the blow by caused the motor oil deposited on the top of each pistons and the car running smoke out a bit after hard driving. -
Does it require a lot trims behind the bumper JP?there's aluminum bar behind that bumper for the safety when accident if possible i dont want to
cut that bar off too much.
Another question about the breather system on AAN.is that normal to see a lot of oil fumes coming out when running the high boost?let's say
about 28-30psi,with the bone stock very low miles engine.I was so surprised to see a lot of oil inside the intake even with 40000-50000kms
AAN engine. I have the Man Provent 200 oil separator behind the black PCV valve and the hose that connected to the behind rocker cover
which runing under the rocker cover to the turbo inlet.it seems there's still too much blow by
gets into the turbo inlet.
Thanks JP!

76 is the thickest with aircon or without. Difference is with aircon intercooler sits right onto the aircon rad. Also need to run. More compact relocated power steering cooler.Leave a comment:

wow,I like the idea of license plate.really nice!
JP,what's the thickest IC core to it under the front
euro bumper with least trimming on the bumper?
i still need to keep the aircon since my average
ambient temp is 35-40C.Leave a comment:

What kind of intercooler is it? I´m in need of a bigger cooler but haven't found any one good that will fit stock bumper without turning it in to swizz cheese

Absolutely stoked as finished making up the new ends for the larger intercooler this weekend. Quick trial fit and it sits further away from the radiator so less heatsoak. And sits nicer/straighter in the bumper so no distortion of the bumper lower valance like before which annoyed me to no end.

My engine had a full metal boost run using v-band joins..eventually had to incorporate 1 hump hose to allow a bit of flex.....boost tested it to 4 bar and there are no leaks
Ps- The engine is a JNL Racing 1.9T.....producing 440 HP in a mk2 Golf

The V band flanges in the picture are very hard to line up without a male/ female lip on them. I have some on my exhaust and you can get them quite badly out of shape if you are not careful!Leave a comment:

Yes I've seen those couplers before. The only problem you have is that the engine moves so when you hard mount pipework you end up cracking stuff or putting strain on the intercooler core.
This is why the dearer clamps like the clamshell ones or the linder power coupler I use on my tb have a perfect high pressure seal but allow for movement.Leave a comment:

Yes, exhaust doesn't need a seal, but that V-band in the pic is alu, and it's for the intake side.Leave a comment:

Use one with a o-ring or silicone seal for air applications, will leak otherwise BTDT.
It is always the slipjoint from turbo -> IC which fails, it is the hottest & highest stressed one since boostpressure before IC is the highest.
Try to find truck ones with v-band connection in stead of slip joint. I am afraid 4" is a big too big?

For exhausts use these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DAF-Hose-C...item5182df3eaa Stainless.. look crappy but are durable, will outlast you.Leave a comment:

I've used and are using the ones without the seal, they are great !
not so expensive I think... (for my exhaust)
