I believe its best in sharing as it helps to evolve concepts and boundaries. I think Driftin Jo has it explained in the most basic and straightforward way. I believe that the issue doesn't arise until you actually optimize all elements involved. Because if you look at the take of on the wagner evo manifold it's no better than factory. But as the runners are not optimised for the best possible spool as its in effect a cast manifold of the sort of log variety it doesn't suffer the issue.

Ordering a new wastegate tomorrow from us and start work sometime next week on it.

I know the pace they work at is ridiculous. 2 days and the whole car is stripped bagged and labelled. Glass out everything cleaned inside and out. New wing fitted the lot.

The advantage of using a bodyshop that knows the cars inside out. Should see the bare metal Urquattro restoration on their Facebook page. Can't even begin to think how to put it all back together.....

Then again people think the same in my workshop when they see loads of stripped heads and blocks

                Just a teenie update.

Retrimmed the doorcards myself. Now just waiting on the seats to come back from the local trimmers sometime next week.

Hopefully the wastegate turns up too so I can get that side of it sorted.

Bilstein B8's have been send to bilstein UK for new shortened tubes and revalving after I bend the new ones with less than 200miles. Came to light that the solid topmounts coupled with the low ride height didn't favour them

Bodywork has been finished 10days ago and car is sitting in primer for a bit whilst I finish the last of the mechanicals of. That however will not be shown till finished.

Did you use the same type of backing foam as standard?

Cheers, I was advised by the trimmers to remove the cotton backing of the alcantara to allow it sculpt and stretch better and go straight over the existing material hence utilising the stock foam fabric layer.

Acidburn Will try and dig it out for you

In the interim another little update

Went to pick up my rear seats and front seat cushions from the local trimmers http://www.carinteriors.net/ , now with matching black alcantara inserts to match the doorcards. To keep costs down we decided to re use the rear bench leather as it was in a decent enough condition to not be a total write of

The new 60mm wastegate has arrived too, but installation will have to wait until the second stage of primer goes on the car in 2 weeks. Also my mate who does my tig welding comes back from his Europeean motorbike roadtrip around then and he's set up for back purging unlike myself.

Now my brand new billies didn't last much beyond 200 miles as you can see from the lower two tops. A combination of having slammed the car to the deck making them bottom out along with 500lbs coilover springs and solid topmounts coupled with a couple of country lane potholes at speed was decided to be the cause.

So they've been revalved with 25% increase in dampening and rebound for the spring poundage and the tubes shortened by 25mm to prevent any further recurrence.

Now Jeffer has very kindly supplied me with a bunch of billet bits to make my own intake mani, so after some extended maths I chose what length to chop the runners too in order to maximise flow at my desired peak hp rpm range

A bit of sexy welding and a temporary buff on the polisher and we have a shiny paperweight
