82.5mm pistons is correct, and I'll be using the standard MLS gasket bored out to 82.75mm

              • Be careful overboring the stock gasket that far you may very well find that you end up loosing your fire ring at which point there may aswell not be a gasket there.

                • Hopefully it works out, I never knew it was going to be a pain in the ars*e getting different sized MLS gaskets. I would've stuck with the original bore size otherwise and not worry about those extra cc's

                  • I always build to 82mm for this reason. With the added benefit of improved piston stability over larger pistons at high rpm.

Other option is to copper o-ring the block and use the 7A fibre headgasket. Which is a trick the Group A rally cars used to do in the olden Cossie days.

                    • I was going to copper o ring the MLS for a better seal. Does the 7A gasket gasket have a larger bore? I thought I read somewhere it was also thicker than 1.61mm MLS.

                          JP - how is this o-ringing done/made?

Welding will only work with dissimilar rod though. Not much difference to your method other than no issues when decking the block.
bump on the copper o rings jp, i presume these grooves are for extra cooling so how close would the copper o rings be to the cylinders? plus the ring would only be very small diametre?
