I take it it wont make any difference fitting it?

Yes, replacing "A" pump with "H" won't make any difference, they both are the same - central locking with antitheft alarm, no remote. To get remote working, you must get "G" pump or one without letter and install antenna for it if it's not already there (pins 1 and 7 in 12pin connector at CL pump).

        Thanks for all your help

Im afraid I haven't even looked at the pump on the car but have googled images of the pump ending with "G" and see it has 2 air connectors, would my car have 2?

What kind of antenna would I need? can it be got from somewhere other than Audi?

If I did get a pump and antenna what exactly would I have to do? obviously fit them and then recode the car/key? (I have got a Audi remote locking key )

Duffelcoat said it's an 8L0862257A pump so yes, it has two outputs. Antenna is just a coaxial cable approx. 1,5m long, but first check if it's not already there - pins 1 and 7 in smaller black connector.
Yes, fit them, swap over immobiliser chip, match remote to pump and recode pump to suit your needs using vagcom.

If its that easy to do then I will be doing it can I use pumps ending with M,N,P,Q? or is it only G and 257 (no letter pumps?) Will I be able to open and close the windows with the remote?

When you say swap over immobiliser chip, where is that? in pump? would I need to take it to Audi or just find someone with full VAG.COM to get it programmed? can the remotes ive got in the aftermarket kit be programmed?

Keep things simple and use a 257 or the G,they have everything you need and they are the most common remote units you will find in a scrappers, some of the other units can be a ballache, such as interfering with alarms etc(eg a P off an A3 or an N off an A8 btdt).

Firstly sorry for reviving an old thread, see it hasn't been commented on in a few months.

I was the owner to whom Richard bought the car off of from up in Aberdeen. Really glad to see it went off to a home where it was being looked after! Still to this date regret selling it but couldn't justify running it as I'd just taken a new job where my daily commute was going from 3 miles a day up to 80 so sadly had to let it go.

I've been trailing the net looking for another once for sale again and came across this thread, knew after reading the comments it was my old one and sure as when I signed up just now I could then see the attached pictures there she was
