So the bearing circumfrence is longer than that of the cap it's going into. When you bolt up the cap you compress the bearing some and this allows the cap to grip it. By loosening a bolt on the cap the 2 halves will seperatedue to this compression force and the bearing Will push the cap apart some. Its this measurement you want to be about 0.1mm

Ecu has gone back to vems and they have said they are changing the main board to fix the ecu crashing issue.

Crank went to the engineering shop and they have ground the big ends to first under size. Also found it slightly bent at the big end that spun which is apparently normal enough. So they have it straightened with a crank press to less than 1 thou and the mains don't need ground. Magnafluxed and no cracks etc. Just waiting on bearings from them. Rod and a spare sump sent to up at jnl racing who did my head and balancing. Rod can be repaired ok and he is modifing the sump with a different baffle setup and an oil return and breather for my catch can that he reckons is more efficient so keeps more oil in the pan.

Failure of my rod bearing seems to be caused by a number of things.
                  1. Oil thermostat was stuck closed with grit as like an idiot I forgot to check in its housing. This left the oil very hot.

                  2. My breather setup is only from the head with no crank case vent. While driving hard this forces oil up with the blow by to the head and into the catch tank. This leave less oil in the sump which is at a high temperature due to thermostat issue.

                  3. High g driving causes the low hot oil level in the sump to move away from the pickup despite my baffles and so the oil pump picks up air.

                  4. Air in the hot oil results in the tappets getting very noisy. Eventually a bearing on the crank fails through lack of oil flow and excessive air forcing the oil away from the journal surface.

                  So my solutions are.
                  A. Fix and or replace oil thermostat.
                  B. Modify breather system to take vent mostly from the crankcase and less from the head.
                  C. Fit a different baffled sump with a better oil return system that works in conjunction with my new breather system.
                  D. Fit my accusump system. It's no good in a box in my garage.

                  Your thoughts?

when you fixed all that i'm sure that will do the job
when i had my oil pressure problems in the past it was fixed with baffles in the sump and more oil capacity(1.5l extra oil)

sorry about the picture, this is the only one where you can see the extension

You dont ned a breather in the head. You can drive with a closed head.
Best is in the front side of the sump

That's interesting. Have you a picture of were the front sump connection is exactly and also what size?

Cool thanks. Lots of work there extending the size of the sump. So you or your friend have ground clearance issues?
