Last nightshift I was little bit bored at work, so I ported the turbine housing. It will now match the manifold flange better, and the throat, till the turbine wheel opening, is now little bit bigger than on my other A/R .63 housing. Of course the rest of the snail is smaller. Quite difficult to measure so just visual estimation.

Pas, nothing so scientific. It was welded on when I got the turbo, but it was very small weld and there was a small crack. So I made a bigger weld with SS 316L rod and no pre-heat. We shall see if I drop the DP on the road after first heat cycles haha.

Was it with an arc rod?

One qestion about the power steering... This have the Corsa electric steering column and hydraulics deleted. But how about the orginal steering rack, would it need oil or can it be "dry"?

Dry is fine. I built my urq like this. You should make sure the valve setup and pin is welded solid on the shaft though.

Today I set the rear alignment into the ballpark. Went with zero toe and 1.5 degrees negative camber as a starting point. Then I stripped the aby quick ratio steering rack to convert it to manual steering.

I welded up the 2 shafts so there is no play and the dogs don't take the strain as they can crack!

Then I cleaned and painted the rack.
Why did you delete the corsa steering system?

I still have the corsa system but the pictures above are a modification you should do to the audi rack to allow it to transfer the force without cracking the dogs inside.

Ok, so I'm not really familar with the cracking cog..? Something that happens easily?

BTW, collected a set of old school wheels today. Azev A 17x7.5" with 4x108 bolt pattern. They would need refurb, and two small dent repairs. Any ideas about futue color? Was thinking about "motorsport" white, and without center caps.

Nice wheels I had those in 15 inch on my mrk 2 golf. White always looks good I think.

Someone with an e30 BMW who converted to non power steering had the rack crack at these gears and partially lost steering on track. Scarey stuff. The thoughts were the extra load on this mechanism with no power steering in the rack caused it. It's an easy enough job if you can get the rack out so I did it.

                                Des, that makes sense.

Nick, your car is soo nice, an B4 would never look the same. These was the nicest whels I could find used with 4x108 pattern. And they don't feel very heavy either. These are et20 so I hope they will fit the flares, if not then have to go with jdm flares.
