I looked at this before I went to HiSpec.

The original RS2 disks are 304mm dia but have the same hat height etc (as far as I know). This means that the RS2 mounts need to be spaced out by 5mm (2 washers) between the carrier and the caliper to accomodate the 10mm diameter difference of the 314mm A8 disk.

The RS2 disk was also 32mm as opposed to 30mm of the A8 yeah?

    Anyone want to confirm this?

If the disc is 2mm thinner then in theory (and I'm going of the top of my head without studying it) the calliper will need spacing by 1mm to centre it. Or will it need to move 1mm the other way? If so that could be a problem.

thats assuming the RS2 and the 996 calipers have the same mounting points and have the same distances from centre of bolt to centre of disk - which sounds unlikely with 2 calipers - one for 28mm disks and one for 32mm disks.

Has anyone got the dimensions of a RS2 bracket???

The numbers on my calipers are 996.351.425. They were bolt-on fit with the RS2 bracket and so were the A8 314mm discs.

Those brake cooling ducts with fogs look great. Any ideas where you can get them from?

I have been told before that you have to be carefull with forced cooling of one side of the brake discs as you can warp them quite easily (one side really hot the other side really cool) - not sure if this is true or not??

Doug, this is only an issue on the S2 with upgraded brakes.

The RS2 (Porsche) wheels were designed to provide cooling air to the brake discs. This was the primary reason Audi used the Porsche hub pattern on this vehicle.

If you want to improve the cooling of your brakes, you can also consider to use the original RS2 solution with airducts fixed to the lower triangles.
Although they were designed for the casted aluminium RS2 triangles, they can be used on the welded steel S2 triangles as well.
Just make two holes and a tie wrap in addition to the nut on the bal bearing will do.
                          Partnumbers:
                          1x air duct left: 8A0 615 335 (~16€)
                          1x air duct right: 8A0 615 336 (~16€)
                          2x nut N906 516 01 (~3€/pc)

                            RS2 rotors

                            LPHUK2002 asked about RS2 rotors.

According to ETKA, the early (1994) and probably all RS2's had a 322x32 rotor. It has of course the Porsche 130x5 hole pattern. This is BTW the same rotor as used on the Porsche 928 S4, 944 Turbo S and 968 CS.

The 304x32 rotor is from the 1979 and up 3.0 liter Porsche 911 Turbo also known as the 930. The 930 calipers are smaller than the RS2/S4/944TS/968CS calipers and have smaller pads. They are beautiful calipers with cooling fins on them directly descendent from the 917 racing calipers.

The standard RS2 disc (rotor) was 304x32mm. Using the A8 disc of 314x30 you have two choices. machine the discs down to 304 or use 5mm spacers to space out the calipers. I prefer machining the discs as this removes the problem of bolt length securing the calipers. Disc balance is also less of a factor as a smaller diameter disc is more likely to run true. Everything else should bolt straight on.
This setup was transported directly from the Porsche 968 CS - the only difference was the caliper redesign to use thinner pads.

The 322x32mm was available as an option on the RS2. This setup came from the Porsche 911 (964 chassis).

Wonder why they don't show up in ETKA. Do you happen to have a PN?
