thanks Jamo,
what i mean is that my information when i made my own excel spreadsheet was 21.94ft so ill have to check again where i found it. I could be wrong or Espen could be wrong! Whoever is will change it
here is an estimation for you: 21.96 when converted.
Having said that, should i be estimating more or less when having the cupra lip???
The 22.4 that I quoted on the first page is wrong, dunno where I got that from...
I use 2.04 square meters, which is 21.96 sq feet, so it seems that we use the same. I have never found official frontal area numbers for the RS2, so I have always used the 2.04m that was widely quoted for the B5 RS4.
The link says 0.40 for Cd, so that is not correct.
The 0.35 Cd was quoted by Motor magazine in their legendary road test, and that is the only official/magazine number I have seen for aero data on the RS2. Pretty weird.
Cupra lip will increase frontal by a small bit, but might actually better the Cd since less air will go under the car.

Update to my above post: seems like the 22.4 sq feet made some sense after all. It equals 2.08 sq meters, so slightly more than the 2.04 of the RS4. I entered these numbers this summer, so I must have found them somewhere that made sense. However, it makes essentially no difference. I ran both 21.95sqft and 22.4sqft for frontal and the difference was 1whp and 0wtq.

so shall we decide on 22.4 for the rs2 and i think for the S2 there is somewhere the frontal area of 20.4? i may be wrong, so at least we can have a unified spec!
Here is a stock RS2 before and after remap. This one was running very strong in stock form, boosting to 1.5bar. Note: runs are in 2nd gear, so it boosts later than it would do in 3rd or 4th.
Here is an interesting one. It shows the difference between petrol and ethanol. Both are 3rd gear pulls with peak boost approx 1.8 bar. This is from when I first started running E85in the RS2 back in 2008, so I was runnning the same boost as I had done on petrol. Note that on this pull, the peak hp was actually higher on petrol, but the car was way faster on E75 (winter ethanol mix), as can be easily seen from the graphs:

Here are two 3rd gear pulls that gave some surprising results back in the day. My RS2 on 99 octane vs a friends RS2 on the same fuel. Both had peak boost set by the same type Turbotech MBC at approx 1.8bar. Very similar turbos, but mine is a T04E50 with stage 3 wheel vs. Super T04E50 with Stage 5 wheel on the other car. Same KKK #8 hotside on both. The comparison RS2 had full 3" turbo back without cats, while mine has stock RS2 downpipe and stock cats with a 3" Milltek Catback. In addition, the comparison RS2 had Wagner IC, but mine has the stock unit. Similar Jonus developed software on both cars. Testweight was 3550lbs on mine vs 3850 on the other, so it had a better load for the turbo as well. Based on hardware, one would have expected the results to be reversed, but not so in real life during these tests. 18" wheels on the comparison car didn't help it, though.

Yep, let us use 22.4 for the RS2.
I have a bunch of S2 magazine roadtests, so I will see if I can find some S2 info there.

espen, can you remind us the spec of the turbo you are using? just to have an idea
Turbonetics T04E50 with stage 3 wheel. KKK #8 hotside. Must admit that I have never pulled it off or researched it much, because it seems to work very well with my setup, especially on ethanol. They are supposedly good for 500-520hp on petrol (and more on ethanol).

there could be some kind of boost leak on the friend's rs2 as the graph could imply loss of torque down to loss of boost pressure.
Those two logs were from the MR Dyno logger (100hz resolution). He actually did a boost leak test on his car before the pulls, and it was fine. However, it ran very rich at low rpms, so that explains the torque loss. What surprised me more was that it went flat at high rpms.
He has since sold the RS2 and now runs the MTM RS4 that I posted about earlier in the thread. He is thinking about a full LOBA package on the RS4, but that is insanely expensive, so I'd rather convert to E85 and run solid boost on the K04s if I were him. That would be a very quick setup for the street.
