All the four pin 1.8t/2.0TFSi/4.2L coil packs have a POS built into the coil pack along with a coil, hence "coil pack" instead of just "coil".

So.... Are these TTRS and B7-RS4 and R8 coils live under the s2 coil cover or need I just accept they have to vent heat to ambient air. Mad idea but is there some sort of thermally conductive putty that could form a heatsink sandwich between neu coils and the cover.

Here is a little story: Remember a fellow named "Corey", he of quattrionics (sp) "fame"? He was then a 034 dealer and he had a 1.8t coil pack kit to try out (this is somewhere about 2006-07). I suggested that he NOT run them under the original ABY coil cover but he insisted. Bottomline: He had coil failures much earlier than he would have IF he had left the ABY coil cover off.

I think the same is true today. Why would you want to hide those lovely red coil packs anyway?

Because they are bonnet lifters, they like people to read the 20V turbo bit, they may argue that it's because it is an OEM look but the new cars look like that so it is an OEM look anyway with the new coil packs.

Are the RS4/R8/TTRS/RS3 coils direct replacement for the 1.8T coils? I.e. are the connectors the same at the coil and pins the same?

I hope so, then I can just plug and play

                Yes they are...
As for Rocco's car, I have a few thoughts...

It is definitely not the software in the ECU, getting a hard cut between 0.7 to 0.9 bar and AFR is all over the place.
We'll try swapping some parts between cars

Nice job Rocco. Is the wire cover a stock A4 or V8 piece (at least for No.5 to 2) with an extension to No.1? Looks much more OE than my first attempt back in 2005:

i dont know... i bought the coils with the custom wiring made before. and yes, it looks very original

but for plug the coils perfectly with the 3B cam cover i had to cut around 1cm of part of the coils rubber ,because if not they does not plug 100% with the spark plugs and missfires. then for better asembling i used some turns of electric tape for stroger fit

Rocco, it looks like one of your hose clamps is about to come off, or did you mount it that way?

Can this be done using ECU Part 4A0 907 379, given the coils are ok to find where do i get the plugs / pins ect to fit these ?

What does the ABS controller have to do with coils?

Given i've got the correct ECU then what parts do i require to make up a loom and get the hardware side of things done ?
