Can't totally disagree Martin but in your example you UPGRADED the engine. In this case, going 3B from ADU is a downgrade. If the RS2 car had a 2.0 L 16V swapped in, would it *still* be an RS2 to you? That's "just..an engine swap" too.

    And it still can be.

an rs2 must have ADU engine to wear the badge, otherwise it become an 80 avant with porsche parts slapped all over it.
not an rs2 any more IMO.
But is yours the original engine that came out of the factory fitted to this exact car? if not then I don't consider your car a rs2 as its not how it left the factory (even with the exception of modifications)

Question for you - all these cars with 7a heads on them because they are generally in better condition than adu/aby/3b heads with no cracks etc. If the original heads are too far gone and the only financial alternative is a 7a head does this make them any worse as the heads are better but they are not stamped like the originals.

I'd rather have the better 7a head than a cracked and potentially an expensive failure original head.

    Stefano, that's Your simple truth.
If you see how many rs2 have been left unmolested then you will realise that you are a minority. Most of s2 rs2 owners see them as highly modifiable and to ME that doesn't make them less of an rs2.

Besides there are a lot of improvements to be made on the original engine and I wouldn't hesitate to do them to just say that its original.

I have seen a lot of original which are not even reaching 240hp. Does that make them more valuable because they are original?

It's timucin's old car, yes it is a real one.

So what if it's got a 3b in it, at least its kind of running now which it always refused to do for a few years.

That car was jinxed from the start

Silly question maybe but have you got the cam timing out? (did you change the cambelt) On rs2 cam wheel does not align with mark on valve cover on 3b it does
