Monkey, if you have just one spark per revolution at TDC on cyl one then you have a sensor or wiring problem. I think it might be the Hall but not totally sure. I've had a WR since 86 and have had this issue but it's a long time ago.Comment

I have ( despite what restricted thinks of me) worked very methodically through the test procedures and everything checks out. I have a healthy and regular spark from the LT lead but nowt from number 1 spark plug. I'm not sure now if the Ecu isn't happy with one of the sensors or an actual mechanical fault. I will sit and read the other articles thank you Newsh.Comment

Sorry Adam g. What are asking ? I have checked the hall sender and both the g28 ( replaced as wiring chewed) and G4 they all tested ok.Comment

UR Quattro Set Up?
Hall sensor in dizzy wiring the right way round?
Pretty sure if you're getting a spark at the centre lead but not at the plugs then the ECU is not seeing the dizzy hall signalLast edited by newsh; 4 October 2016, 07:51.Comment

You have to try and suss out if you're getting one spark per revolution on the centre lead
As it spins over it will go poom poom poom spark poom poom spark.
If it's seeing the dizzy hall correctly then it will go
Poom spark poom spark poom spark etc..
IE 5 sparks per 2 revolutions [emoji6]Comment

I get nothing from the plugs mate, well occasionally and I mean very occasionally get a faint spark but not from the electrodes. She was running a revving cleanly albeit eould not idle. I tested fuel pressure and it was all good but the injector spray pattern on all but cylinder 4 was shocking. ( original injectors I would say) however out of the blue she stopped firing again. I could do with trying a known good dizzy me thinks.
I've seen similar problems on mk2 golfs with digifant but dizzys are cheap and plentiful.. Thanks again.Comment

I was under the car yesterday to drop the starter motor out and someone has refuted the front subframe and suspension and the engine and transmission has clearly been out cleaned and re painted, the sills look very solid too so there's some good news..Comment

There is a hall sensor that bolts into the bell housing that picks up a pin on the flywheel, I was asking if it's working. I'm not familiar with the g28 or g4 off the top of my head so maybe you have checked already.
Ive had the same issue as you before but many years ago, my memory fades.
