Same deal with the vacumn line on the intake pipe..

I can't comment on this stuff yet, but I can tell you what part #s are.

      ah crap I am dumb..

Why don't I just take the time to think about this.
The intake line you have in question is the line that the carbon canister vavle purges the fumes into the manifold.

Is this what you have then Mark?

Is that a standard oil sump plug you modified?

Sorry for all the stupid questions!

@Paul, sorry m8 just a slight misunderstanding, the 3b's system doesnt look as confusing as the aby's, the pipe exiting the block has a smaller diameter pipe branching off which goes to the back of cam cover, but as there will be a new pipe going from cam cover to catch tank as you say, this smaller pipe from the block wont be needed so can be blocked, also block the outlet in the maf/turbo hose, and bin the metal pipe which runs down side of head (under pressure pipe) , the hose which connects to this (metal pipe which has been removed) will go to catch tank also.
i didnt know what to do with the hose from the solenoid thingy which carries fumes from tank, just leave it connected to inlet manifold??

          jeezz my head hurts!

remember reading about having positive crankcase pressure as was described earlier in thread in one of the books of got about tuning, exhaust idea sounds interesting, what sort of bore pipes etc would be needed? could the connection just behind turbo be used? prob be too hot though

Isn't venting fumes from the crankcase, directly into the exhaust likely to produce a rise in exhaust HC levels?. The catch tank should catch most of the oil, but I bet a fair bit still gets past. I can only see this being a problem at MOT time, if it's a problem at all?

                Doug,

Yes thats right, and yes its a standard sump plug, I just drilled and tapped a 12x1.5mm thread into it and fitted an adaptor to -6 JIC with a sealing washer, you could do the same with a banjo type fitting too if you wanted, no matter, they both do the same job.

                Mark.

                  Quick thought:

What about it affecting the 02 sensor?

Thats brilliant mate, gonna definately try that, I remember reading a thread on Kruemmer, here:

Which mentions the benefits regarding power increases gained by creating a vacuum within the crankcase.
                    Oh well more to do
Does anyone have an idea of what type of one way valve could be used?

                    Mark.
I used a one way valve from the servo pipe on an Austin Princess.I have around 3 of them ( and i need them all sorry) and they are all steel construction which is nice.

Have a look round a few breakers yards at the valves on servo's or inlet manifolds.Im sure you will find something that would work.

if the O2 sensor is near the top of the down pipe this system will cause no issue. As long as the fumes are after any sensors in the exhaust down pipe they will be uneffected.

Surely dumping oil laden fumes into the downpipe will be bad news for the cats if you keep them in place?

Right - here's the scoop... Following a few mins with a torch under the bonnet I drew up the standard PCV system on the ABY engine.

First surprise was that there IS a direct connection from the crankcase to a breather connection on the cam cover. Its directly below the one for the transfer pipe so I'd never seen it before !

I now think the 3B system is almost identical with the exception that the ABY makes elegant use of a transfer pipe in the cam housing to the MAF hose, whereas the 3B has an external pipe for this purpose.

                            Keep watching...

One proposal for an air/oil separator on our engines with a catch/drain tank that makes use of the MAF vacuum to recirculate the fumes. Oil is captured in the catch tank and returned to the sump.
