Pin-wise he means these female ones in the harness connector. They can come loose and get pushed back, losing good contact with one or more of the male pins of the actual MAF.

I used this on mine and it's been fine ever since:

I wouldn't bother with any copper slip/grease, but that's just my opinion.

Right guys, I tried to pop the pins out of the MAF connector last night and failed miserably. I had to hand a thicker and a normal paperclip but neither did a darn thing apart from make me want to cut the connector off with pliers. Looking at the attached picture I've borrowed and annotated from this thread, where exactly do I stick the paperclip? Do I use the thicker one/small screwdriver in position 2 or, a U shaped thinner paperclip down either side ala position 1? Do I even insert whatever down this side of the connector or down the back side of it to release the pins?

              many thanks chaps,

First off pull back the hinged tab. Under the tab you will see a barb on the terminal. There is one on the other side too, and these are what retain the terminal in the housing. You need to use a thick paperclip or similar sized prong through the recess above the terminal (your position 2 in the pic) to press the barb down so you can remove the terminal. It helps a lot if you push the terminal into the housing as you press the barb, then withdraw. You need 2.5 hands. It's easy once you've got the knack

hmm, ok thanks very much for that Alex. That sounds like what I was trying last night...might need to try again with something thicker as it wasn't keen on releasing

Make sure you push the terminal into the housing before trying to depress the barb and release it. If you've been wiggling it about it might be a bit gnarled up.
