  • Exhaust manifold from ebay

I know quality issues have been discussed before with ebay manifolds but I just wanted to see if anyone on here has bought one of these?

If so what is it like?

I will probably get one, clean up casting and try it. Some people say they're bad, some people say they run them for years with no problems. At £80 I'll take the risk.

I bought one out of curiosity and for an experiment, there's no way I'd bolt it straight on as the casting finish is pretty poor and it will 5h1t debris through your turbo. But it can cleaned it up with a dia grinder in no time, also the holes for the turbo studs are one size too small and need re-driling and tapping out to the correct size thread.

I blanked them with studs and converted it to T3 flange/bolt pattern which involved removing a fair amount of material which is quite soft for cast so hopefully it's ductile. There just enough to play with to do the conversion.

Here it is sporting a chuffing great twin scroll K27, I'll be bracing it top and bottom.

I don't have time now but I can remove the turbo and take some pic's of what I did to convert it over the weekend, it still needs finishing off inside but is 90% there.

Lucky eBay find, I think it's from a Porsche but can't much info on it.

Here we go it still needs a fair amount of work before I'll be happy but it'll give you some idea, I've quickly run a worn out sanding wheel up each port to knock the worst off and they still look pretty rough. Before I started there was loose stuff everywhere. You really need a proper dia grinder and air, a Dremel or such like will take forever, the collector was horrid with a 20mm long burr ready to jump off.

I've used one and it needs the casting grinding and tidying up in ports and there was two stud holes that needed enlarging. I think andy10v ran one on his s2 coupe he was the one who told me about this manifold when I asked about it.

Thanks for the information and pictures!
Going to give it a go and use a die grinder as above to clean it up.
Do you think it would be worth getting it coated in ceramic or similar?

After a clean up is it likely to flow any more or make more power than a stock AAN Manifold?

Yes as it's a direct copy of the Wagner RS2 Evo manifold.

So its an £80 version of an RS Spec manifold that needs some grinding?
Sounds like a no brainer to me
