  • S2 Subframe bushes.

    Hello,

I will but to my S2 new subframe. No my question is what bushes to but.
You S2 fans defenetly know what is better options.

My car is more Daily driver that track car. But firmer handling is always good. But i defenetly dont want to firm and pumpi car.
Options is to put OEM, PowerFlex and Aluminium ones.

As i understand then metal ones will rust in salty winter?

If you daily drive your car, you should use flexible poly bushes (not hard plastic/POM). Rubber is to soft, but aluminium is very stiff.

I prefer the Powerflex poly bushes to alloy having tried both, handling wise there was no noticeable difference but the ride was slightly smoother..

Actually I have Superflex on my Coupe
Good compromise between stock rubber and Powerflex poly

Power flex are very easy to fit as well,I found OEM to be very difficult without special tools.

If you want to fit OEM bushes, you have to put a screw in the hole an just press on the screws head. Then the bushes will get longer and also thinner.

                      So my options is:

                      Alu. bushes.
                      https://www.akmotorsport.net/shop/al...shings-b2b3b4/ 49€

                      Powerflex:
                      https://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-ser...0mm/11540.html 2x22€
                      https://www.powerflex.co.uk/road-ser...0mm/11544.html
I dont know why thet sell front and rear front subrame bushes? Its all the same?

                      https://www.superflex.co.uk/proddeta...=SF080-1797KSS 72€

So superflex is double the money. Is they so much better than aluminium and powerflex ones? Also they say those bushes dont fit Sedan and saloon. I dont understand it. All subframes on quattro are the same measurment. Only bold is differnent(10mm vs 12mm).

They probably mean for the rear subframe which uses different bushes

depending on the car some have 10mm rear and 12mm front. some 10/10

my fronts were 10mm on the saloon. very easy to drill and tap to 12mm.

id say the choice is poly or solid then get the best value you can.
