.
I'm sure my 'M ' plate rear carriers are steel...car is a 80 v6q.
I really doubt the B5 ones are alloy, there would have to be massive dimensional differences...but i'm happy to be proved wrong.

yep i saw that, i also think that it is material difference, not any dimensional difference...Leave a comment:

I hope and suspect its just a material difference - not dimensional. Haven't you noticed the hub carrier on the 1995 A4Q (B5) has aB4 platform / 8A0 part number - but oddly is only listed for that vehicle... Must be a tweak on the earlier B4 part. My bet is the B4 part is good old steel, and maybe the B5 part is lighter ?Leave a comment:

audi a4Q / s4 -95 bush part number:
8D0 505 171 no diameter in etka
audi rs2
8A0 505 171 C looks exactly the same though... AND the bolt that hols the hub in the lower arm has exactly same sizesLeave a comment:

£67.76 for the 17mm RS4 quattro gmbh special one - are you sure ?Just caught up with this .... I've been looking into the 17mms arb with the local dealer ( about a week ago , before I was dragged away for a weeks holiday... )
They have quated me £67.76 incl VAT but will let me have 5 % discount ( as it's for an Audi over 3 years old !!!!)
Also the RS2 rear drop links ( metal -- not the plastic version fitted to A4/S4 /RS4 B5s) are £61.75 each incl and again minus 5 %
and Milton Keynes had half a dozen sets in stock..........
Can you dig up a part number on that quote please ?Leave a comment:

Careful now... the pressed upper arms of ordinary B5 and the forged versions of RS4 do show the same part number on the bushes. No as the early part number is for the forged arms, later for the pressed steel. As the powerflex dont fit the forged arms they have to be a different size bush. Though the B5 part number is the same for A4Q and RS4 even though the RS4 has the forged arms. My head is spinning now but that has be a mistake...
On the plus side i think i just solved my problem of modifying the poly bushings for the forged arms, the later cars had a 212mm length bolt vs the early 180mm. Using the longer bolt should allow them fit once i cut the bushings down to size
I do however see a possible issue that the pressed & forged versions of upper arms on the B4 may be more than different material - and may be different from B5 sized one.
We definitely need a donor of one pressed and one forged rear upper arm to have Powerflex check this one.Leave a comment:

The S4 one is 15mm.
The RS4 is 15mm but an option of 17mm... maybe this is for the RARB thread of Paul's though.Leave a comment:

i dont know if you have read this or not, but the 17mm rs4 RARB has no part-number?
edit: what about the ARB for the s4 with sport chassis? doesent say any diameter in etka..

Having said that, the part no being the same doesn't mean anything really, it was just interesting to see...Leave a comment:

I note that The upper inner bushes are all same numbers, with slight Variations...
Early B4 8A0 505 185
Late B4 8A0 505 185 A
B5 8D0 505 185 A Regadless of type.
Interesting, would this simply be material differences?Leave a comment:
