Just my tuppence, but the Coupe would want to be good.

Cabbie looked good, apart from the chrome trim.

Blue / colour coded is the right choice for the hardtops imho, but it's all academic now. :roll eyes:

Looking forward to your new thread.

    Best wishes.

ha ha, sorry mate, I think you missed the joke, the cabriolet is now a coupe on account of it having a hardtop so for winter its no longer windy, cold rattly soft top, its all the way nice and warm coupe like ;-P

        Doh ! My bad.

Now makes sense - couldn't fathom why you'd sold it.

So when are you changing to a black ariel, and losing the chrome trim, now that you're keeping it.

I'm thinking about ditching the aerial altogether and wiring in a windscreen aerial type thing, like I had on my TT as it will smooth out the rear. As for the silver, not sure, I might try getting it wrapped to see how it looks, I don't mind the silver personally but might look good.

Where to get a reasonably priced RS2 grille from is an entirely different problem however...

I'm getting rid of the chrome on mine and have done the same as you plan with the aerial lee. Actually works better than the oem electric one .
                Looking great btw

I know I may be ploughing a lonely furrow here, but I can't understand why people think putting an RS2 / RS2 style grille on an S2 or a B4 Cabrio is better than the oem B4 grille.

To me it is like someone putting a GTI badge on a CL Golf. An RS4 badge on the boot of an A4 diesel, with less taste than Lexus style tail lights on an older BWM 3 series or small Peugeot hatchback.

It's in the same style as Barryboys cars, but some people just can't seat. The good designers that Audi employ are there for a reason, they are good at their job. Look how good a B4 still looks compared to other cars of the era. And the owners swopping the grille think they know better.

Changed / 'upgraded' is definitely not always better, certainly on this occassion.

The swopping in of an RS2 grille will seriously clash with the normal lower slated grille in the S2 bumper.

It looks just as bad when people put an RS2 style grille on an UrS4 / UrS6.

No offence intended whether implied or actual, but I just feel happier having got this issue off my chest. It is just that the car looks very well at the moment and I think it would be a retrograde step to put an RS2 grille on it. I do appreciate that it is your car though, believe it or not.

                  Rant over.

Sleeper / oem + + / less is more is my train of thought.

If you're looking for things to change on the car, powder coat the chrome door pulls inside the car satin black ala an RS2 door pull.

Source as set of black leather RS2 front seats. They may be a big investment, but they can be moved to further cars, so they are a worthwhile investment when viewed over the long term.

I took off the chrome Audi rings on the boot on my own Cabrio.

                        LOL.

                        Bring it on !

Mightn't be definite about some things, but this one is a no brainer, imho.

I agree with you totally over the RS2 badging from the grille, I would consider the grille if I could find one at the right price, but I would take the RS2 badge off, that said, I like the stock grille and I am so-so about the mesh one (I don't like the silver rad poking through) but I do like that the rings are different to cars of that era because they are actually TT OEM rings modified to fit!)

When I got the car it had an RS badge on the back, peeling it off was the first thing I did on the day I bought it...

As for the interior, it took me ages to source a good set of S2 ABY heated front seats and I have no plans on changing them, the RS2 recaros are nice, but the S2 style is the perfect as an upgraded version of the ones that came with the car, I've had the drivers one refurbed so they are staying.

Realistically mod wise now, I have a spare MAF which I will modify according the the 12v.org pages, a new custom exhaust from MIJ and if I can find them, the hardtop attachment covers that are rarer than the hardtop itself and probably a set of black alloys for the winter tyres (so I don't stress about them getting dirty in the winter lol)

Thats it, she's pretty much done and I am just going to enjoy her long term, besides, modding wise I have the track TT taking up all of my pennies now.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression, it was the RS2 mesh grille I was 'fretting' about. On all of my S cars the first thing I do is take off the front and rear badges.

So I wasn't even thinking of the idea of an RS2 badge on the front.

What bits are you referring to when you mention the hardtop attachment covers are as rare as hens teeth?

Any info on this Maf mod 12v.org?
