Any parts coming from GPC i may be able to sort out a discount anyway as the company is owned by my mates uncle.

Has sorted me out in the past so if they are gonna get a bulk order i'm sure they could oblige!!

Will try find out and let you know ASAP.

PS. depending on when you would be interested in doing this buy i may be interested too.

A guy on another forum just got a rieger bumper fitted to his A3 - I asked what the quality was like:

        Doug_RS2 said:
Rich - what's the quality of the rieger bumper? - there are few of us S2 guys looking to buy RSR(RS2) bumpers and Rieger has been recommended - Was there any fannying around to get it to fit? All the holes in the right places? Minimal prep needed?

        Cheers

        Doug,

Its a pain in the **** to fit... Had to make a groove in where the driver side mesh fits for the tow loop, had to drill the bottom holes that screw into the under tray, and holes from arch linings. also had to drill holes to bolt it to the upper bumper...I also did some prep work on the bumper before it was sprayed as it was a bit rough in places (just wet&dry)

So we should go with an original one then, as it's the same price

Is it £300 worth of hassle or worse?

Somthing that just occured to me too.. the Genuine RS2 bumper and the price of £500 from GPC. Does the price of £500 include the three mesh OE grilles?? Reason I ask is that the 3 grilles total about £120 at retail!!

I reckon the fogs will be cheapest OE from a link through the Porsche club, indicators arn't that much anyhow.

Then you'll need the grille fixings, there's a knob affair that goes through the right hand grille and then the washer jet fixings, it all adds up...

It might be worth clarifying the GPC pric as to whether it includes all the grille, their fixings and then the washer jets and fixings etc. If their price of 500 doesn't include these parts, you can add another £100 to their £500!!

To get a good paint job on the bumper, I would think the cost would be more than £100?

You might also be able to sell your S2 bumpers on to other people to help with costs....

I agree - I have been asking around and I think it will be closer to £200 at least, maybe more if getting them to fit it - unless you know someone.

The fogs are apparantly the same as fitted on the last batch of convertible coupes, although the part Nos are different.

Am not in the market for RS2 items for my car, as I am doing something different. But, one thing I thought I'd let you know, if you decide to go the Rieger route, steer clear of a certain distributor in the Derbyshire area. They have one of the worst delivery histories going! They don't take checques, credit or debit cards. You have to do a money transfer (BACS) and you have to pay in full before your goods are ordered. I used them for my Orange type 85 Coupe quattro. The bonnet took 2 months, even though I was promised 2 weeks! I spoke to Petra Mayer, of Rieger in Germany, and his reply was "Do not be dealing with P*G, as they are very slowly." I could'nt agree more. I would actually get the genuine article off VAGparts, at least you stand a chance of getting a price for the complete unit, grilles and all. Getting large parts is one thing, getting little bits and pieces seperately to finish off a job can cost you more than you expected.

The side repeaters off a cabrio will definitely not fit(they might but will look crap) - I saw one on my travels on Sunday and as Martyn(IIRC) said they have a radiused corner looking from the side whereas the RS2 is more of an arc.

If we want to leave out the expensive fogs (£120) we could try and source this:

                            EBAY Link

Extra air intakes and it uses Golf Mk3 spots - Need to find a source for new ones and get prices.

I like them - and the extra cooling might appeal to some - Mark?

I expect them to be a lot cheaper than the Dahlback version.
