    Keep the car

So all together Anders, happy with the Autronic unit ? Thinking of it as a daily driver, drivability ?

Good question! I dont know as I havent driven it enough, and I only have the old motronic setup to compare with, but all in all first impressions is good.
1.It does start easier than the old setup did, it fires straight up rather than the old, which would go 2-3 turns on the starter before igniting.
2.No maf to worry about anymore.
3.Stable on low rpms, and have not died one time on me in/out of junctions (as the old setup did frequently). Very nice to drive normal in traffic with.
4.Does not show fuelconsumption (as for a daily, but who cares for that if one buys a (r)s2 to use as a daily)
5.Easy to enter the ecu, understand it and change the parameteres + Good local knowledge on autronic generally.

Keeping it? hah, that is the big question, yes!

I don't worry about rs2 exclusivity. My car is not a true rs2 anyway.

I did order a new headset from chainreaction on monday, Chris King inset 5. Really pita to get the right headset to it as the hedtube is 49mm up/down and the fork is 1,5" taperd to 1-18". But i managed it in the end after alot of research

Yes it would be awesome to have it rack'ed on the roof, but if it should rain, I dont want it to be dirty when i get there (oh and water f*cks up the headset aswell)

I miss those earlier days I did downhill up in the mountains every weekend. When the clock hit 1530 friday afternoon, its really impressive how effective one can be. Fold down the rear seats, throw in 2 x downhill bikes, enough gear/bags and most important of all, 2 cases of your premium beer. Then throw a mate in the passenger seat, and have a blast driving up to the mountain. All done in 2-3 hours time. After that the eco-friendly fun starts.
-So you bike aswell mike? (and its not a kona but a Knolly -> www.knollybikes.com )

thats a really odd combination as far as headsets go.....I know the big rig boys have all gone 1.5" forks along with the head sets but I dodn't know you could get a "hybrid" of the 2 sizes.....
and I'm sorry, your going to fly down a, lets be honest about this, a dirty mountain and your worried about it getting wet!!!.... not a fair weather biker are you...

the chris king will be more than capable to withstand a little water and dirt....I've been running mine for 8 years without much hassle....

Knolly, not aware of those.....look pretty sweet rides though dude...I take it yours is the endorphin...are they fox 36 forks?.....awesome....

                  sorry to go off topic....

Yeah, I understood the oddity of the 49mm/1,5" - 1-1,8" headset when I tried to source one locally and not one (of 7 total) shops had any in stock. CRC hooked me up with a new in awesome 36hours though! Top service and delivery as always
I see your point in the bike eventually getting dirty, and ofcorse I have that in the equation, but I dont want to expose it unnecessary to rain, water or mud, storing it outside - keeping it on the roof of the car, when I could have it dry inside etc. But I totally agree that having it on the rack would be cool transporting it around. Only problem is that it might stay up there getting lost on a 160mph+ pull haha
Yes thats a fox 36 talas fork and the frame is chilcotin. Im very pleased with the buildquality.
Thats a nice Intense you got there. I bet you have a lot of fun on it. Build it yourself? And how is your engine project going?!

-Today has been a fun day! Ive been driving all around in the nice wather burning two full tanks of fuel. Apart from all is good, I find myself constantly worring about what happens next problemwise. Guess I have it from the old days that after a fun session of WOT some random problem should always occur. But nothing major -yet!
Now im learing to drive it all over again as 1 bar is more than enough for me now as I found out today - It pulls like a train on the highway, and its almost to easy to end up in supersonic speeds. Also I can feel that its way stronger down below than before as I find myself often cruise on higher gears on no boost, cruise around enjoing the awesome 5 pot sound. It is simply awesome!

So me beeing all high on my car here is some photos for you guys!

                    1. The suspension done once again. Running 1.45' camber front and 1.25' rear on a stock degree setup. It sits well there!

                    2. Cockpit view! Yes my ABS warning light is illuminated. Do I have to bleed the brakes with the ignition on or is it faulty sensor?

                    3. A new personal record in how dirty my car has been! Oh the shame.

                    4. This is for you Mike - Did not find any roofrack so this will have to do

                    5. And here is for all of you that want to join for a cruise-a-long

                      mate, thats an awesome photo....

I used to chuck my bikes in the back of my coupe as I didn't have the racks at that time....and I've not dared put the roof bars on the avant yet...

I've built my last few bikes along with a nice Tomac for the wife to ride...

as for the engine project, it was "run in" until just shy of 3k miles, prior to mapping, some how the injector seats have fragmented and dropped into the intake which has cause me some serious grief but its on with to be sorted....

what happened to the centre caps?.......and did you sort the seats out?...

Lol, that have to be a tight fit with a bike in the coupe, as i've had my struggles with bikes in the avant boot!
Oh, wha model Tomac did you build for your wife? Shes lucky to get a custom buildt one!

Oh no! Im so sorry to hear that Mike. I know about two-three other local guys that lost bolts and other stuff aswell in the inlet with all bad results.
Thats pain I cannot imagine. I feel for you Mike, but remember to hang in there. You'll get there in the end.
Just look at me. Took only 5-6 years!
The centre caps is only forgotten in the shop. Must remember to fit them next time, and the seats stay as they are. Enough money throwed at it as is.

Yesterday I found a camera and went for a drive!
Out of a 100+ pictures these are the ones that are worth showing. And since Ive only posted engine shots, its now time for the whole car!
Nothing mindblowing special edited though - just adjusted colours, brightness and some plateediting.

                        1. Parkinghouse.

                        2. Nosy business

                        3. Lets show some *****

                        4. Closeup on the hooves

                        5. In all her glory

I also had my first trouble with the engine after the photoshoot. Lost a bolt that holds of the blended ISV hole into the inlet (near the oilpin). So it gained free air and revved to 6000 rpm where it got stable. Its a tad intresting when you are cruising along on the freeway and the car suddenly starts accellerate hard on its own. Its like free voodoo magic has occured !
Anyways, I stopped the car and took some ducttape and leather strap to seal it off, then drove it back, put on an new blender(?) and put some loctite on aswell.
I suspect the reason it fell off is due to lots of vibrations and high temperatures (or owner failure, not able to tighten it properly enough, lol).

Now I only need to get my becker radio code as Ive lost my code card. ******.

                        cheers

Looking at your dash your coolant temp. Gauge is reading to high. Time to change that MFTS valve or double check!

Thats a good observation Vas. Im changing the MFTS tomorrow along with a new adj. intake cam.
Plugging the computer to the ecu it reads alot less water temperature than the inboard gauge live, so im guessing its the new non-oem MFTS. Cables seem good, but will know for sure tomorrow after the change.

I also dont know any more what to do with my boost control as im going on the dyno again (and I now have to possibillity to correct it as its the final dynoing).
My tuner opted for mapping without the 4port mac valve and mounted a massive bleedvalve instead as we were not able to go lower any more than 1,6 bar initally with the mac valve. So bleedvalve it was, and it worked quite good except for the fuelpump and retarded(!) timing.
My dilemma is that I want to do as my tuner says, but I fear that I might miss a bit of drivability/durability when im not running the mac valve.
So what to do? -Is there really any big gains running a macvalve vs a bleedvalve?
My initial idea for buying the 4 port valve was to get better spool, control boost better(?) and engine durability, but I dont know any more if that is its perks or not, or if a bleedvalve does the same job anyway?
Any inputs or thoughts on that? Now im just running boost on the spring which is 1 bar, mac valve is off, and so is the bleedvalve.

The centre caps is now on, but I think it was more 'bully' to dont have them mounted. I'll give it some time to decide.
