Agree. Some early turbo's didn't have water cooling and they didn't last as long and you had to run the engine for 3 mins before switching off! However, some turbos still only rely on oil cooling and seem to work ok (Holset). Has it got an aftermarket turbo?

On all the turbo bikes at big cc racing we only use oil the turbo is a blow through set up and sits at the front off the bike by the front wheel so air gets to it. The turbo on your car doesn't get this luxury so will get very hot very quickly. Hence needing water to help it.

alright the previous owner used other setup on the car, without watercoolant, so i guess he has blocked it.

cant seem to find the water hose with the banjo anywhere on the returner pipe, so i guess ill have to make one myself.

anyone know how the «block CAP» on the engine block is fasten? Do i just pull it out?

I think I saw the water pipe on Audi Tradition.
The plug should just tap out. Careful not to score the mating surface on the block.

Got a few tips on the s2forum Facebook page how to remove the cap.

            fr0.jpg
Removed some dead weight while i was under
            ac1.jpg

Removed oil filter housing, oil cooler pipes, turbo oil return line
Gotta admit i was afraid i couldnt do it with the engine in the car, but got tons of space after removing everything.

            fr1.jpg
Drilled a hole, in with a big screw and a crowbar
            image_77712.jpg

Placing a order from 034 tonight for a new cap so i can get out some water

Strange to actully block it this way, and not block the orginal hose

Had my first 7 meters with the car today. Out and in of the garage

My stick is VERY loose. i have no problem getting the car in gear, but the stick is loose. Searched how the stick looks on other s2', and it looks like im missing some black plastic around? Could that be the reason?

Some time has gone since last update. Have driven the car 50 meters. Bought fox motorsport stainless exhaust. Very satisfied with the sound! But now something odd has happend. The car runs suddenly rough on idle and alot of smoke comes out of the exhaust. This happened ofc right before i was to test drive the car now on saturday... any ideas what could be wrong? Havent Done anything with the car other than change coolant and powersteering fluid. Installed new Bosch spark plugs after this happened. Sounds almost like it doesnt run on all cylinders

                        Resurrecting the thread again.

I have had a slow progress really, thinking its been 4 years since i bought the car

It's road legal now atleast so i have had some time to enjoy the car.

Gonna dump a few picture of it here.

I have had issues with the car for years causing it to only boost 0,5 bar.
After numerous throubleshooting thoughtout the years i never really got a answer what the issue was.
                          - New knock sensors
                          - Tried with another N75
                          - Disconnecting MFTS
                          - Tested with other ECU
                          - Tested with other turbo
                          - Checked the exhaust and cats for blockage
                          - Checked if the car got WOT
                          - Rinsed and cleaned injectors
                          - Had some minor boost leak from injectors wich is now good

The car had 7A cams on both intake and exhaust so i got myself 3b cams. For some reason the boost actully got better after the swap, so i'm confused what the issue was. Thinking it has to be something with the timing on the dizzy. Trust me when i say i looked over timing on the car plenty of times before the swap.

I now have 1 bar overboost - i feel like i still is have boost issues. The car should boost more than 0,7-0,8 with chipped ECU?

Read somewhere on the forums that the one-way valve on the breather line could be faulty if i get air coming out of the metal pipe when i block it from the MAF - Turbo hose? I get some air when i boost test so i have ordered a new one-way valve.

Got 1 bar boost stable now. Sleeve on throttle wire was the issue, so i didnt get WOT.

Car runs abit high on idle when warm.
Pulled 00533 - Idle SPeed Regulation
10-00 - Adaption Limit Not Reached.

No issues with the car other than some kangaroo in 1st and 2nd gear on low rpm and speed.

Idle between 1100-1200 when warm, lower when cold.

Sounds like MAF or boost leak.
Remove the pins from the MAF connector one at a time and clean between the contact faces (or replace them completely).

Do a proper boost leak test. Replace any original vac lines with new. Check particularly the vac/pressure line to the ECU via the moisture trap and the lines to the fuel pressure regulator and branches from there.

Check the diaphragm of the DV is not split, the actuator line should hold vacuum.

Did a boost leak test a few days ago, so i'm gonna look into MAF wiring. It has a cable joint near the MAF so it could be bad connection.

Installed Blaupunkt SQR46 headunit. Replaced the Nokia speakers in the rear panels with Focal PC130. Perfect fit, only used self tapping screws on the orginal metal plate. Had a old 12" sub and a older rockford fosgate amplifier laying in the attic for years that i thew in the car. Luckly the trunk cover hides everything
