Looking good. I know you said it was going to be a pain to get the rear screen sorted but isnt a glass one with a metal bootlid going to change the weighting on the car and make it perform quite differently? Or is it a case of you never knew what it was like in the first place so its not a great deal?
Looking top notch though mate. Good work, keep it up and cant wait to see it done.Comment

Thanks Chris.
Now I'm using the phase 2 309 bootlid I can simply order a screen for it from plastics for performance. The original Grp bootlid was a odd one simply as I believe they hinged off the glass as standard and mine had a full frame, different to the green one I have now so I didn't want to chance ordering a window that may not fit and wouldn't be returnable.
Either way the benefit of the steel one is after some bracing on the underside it should easily be strong enough to hold the wing, I won't need any brackets in the boot itself so the actual weight difference from what it originally had we estimate at being no more than 10kgs.
I'm looking forward to getting the built car on some scales, if it ends up in the 700's I'll be amazed !Comment

Ahhh im with you now. I never paid much attention to a mk1 309 so didnt realise the hinges fitted to different areas. eg glass compared to the lid.
Thats going to be very light all in when done. Btw, liking the goodwood badge hahahaComment

The other difference is that the bootlid on the phase 2 also fills in the gap between the tail lights, mine has a plastic panel that sits between the lights, the phase 1 sits in line with the top of the lights which are also different on the later model, as is the back panel on the car so converting one over to phase 2 properly would be a bit of a mission !
Thanks John

Fair enough. You always seem to be moving units bud. Hope it all works for you in the long run. Teaming up with a spray guy would make life easier I guess.
Looks snug in that corner too. Whats the Mk4 in the corner doing with red hoses???Comment

I know ! Typically the current one is great but due to the size of it I am due a rather large rates bill that I was initially not told about. It's currently a evenings and weekend workshop and I'm not paying 600 a month just for that.
The car in the corner is a Corsa turbo, fitting a new ecu and loom to that, got another next to it which is a nut and bolt rebuild and I had a mk3 Astra turbo dropped off on Saturday for some coilovers and rear turrets to be welded in.
It's all about the vauxhalls this month!Comment

Nice. Vauxhalls.... fair enough lol!!!
I nearly took a section in a massive green house recently for £40 a month. Full airlines and spray booth and use of all the tools (mind you would want my own ones there) Hope you manage to get one that suits in the end then and then you can get the Pug done

Sadly not! Setup a business with a mate and spent the last 6 months fixing everyone else's cars lol
It's on my to do list and will just aim to have it track worthy for 2013 as money is tight with setting this place up.
If I get a spare weeks worth of evenings then it will be ready for paint which I am owed.
Hope your keeping well ChrisComment
