Not a lot going on today.
I cleaned up around the oil filter housing and treated the rust.

    I fitted the nearside strut.
Brake back plates went in with new stainless bolts.

Then I hit a problem. I've had these discs for a while and they are marked up as fitting Ur Quattro. I bought them for my last Ur and they didn't fit as it had later brakes. All looked good when compared with the old discs but when I went to fit the caliper carriers, the discs were too thick!
I do have another set of discs of the right size but these have a centre bore slightly too small. I could take them to my machine shop guy to enlarge but with bank holiday looming I probably wouldn't get them back for at least a week.

I've ordered a new set. Hopefully they will fit!

    Look great but too thick!

Above pic of discs now surplus to requirements.

Above pic of original discs. They are too worn to re use.

Anyway, I've got plenty to do while waiting for new discs to arrive.

Shouldn't this be a zero mark?

Edit: ok I guess it’s this one

Yes, it is a zero. Not very clear in the first pic. I took the pic directly above for my own reference as it not easy to look straight at it due to brake booster and reservoir in the way. My green mark is just before the 0 so I can see it coming.
Whoever did the belt last got it at least one tooth out and dizzy even more! This should transform the previous rough running.

New discs arrived. They are Febi and the quality looks quite good.
I wasted no time getting them fitted.

110nm with thread lock and new bolts.

Alternator wiring needed a tidy up.

Some heat shrink and we are good.

              Calipers on.

I was going to bleed the clutch before re fitting the steering rods but there is a problem with the reservoir.

It's not leaking (yet) but I wanted to deal with it now.
I bought a Brembo motorcycle one.

Unfortunately the outlet pipe diameter is too small.

              Any suggestions?

That would be great, thanks very much. Outlet needs to be about 8mm. I can stretch to 9mm probably. Original is 8.2mm.

I've done a temporary fix until something better comes along.
I found a brass hose adapter in my 'May come in handy' draw.

I flushed through lots of new fluid and it seems to have bled ok.

Doing a few other little jobs. Whilst cleaning the breather hoses I found the one way valve was broken. I happened to have a good spare from an S2. They are identical.

Dave, was there a lot of gunk in the breather hoses?

                            Time to tackle the bomb.

Once removed time to dissemble and clean up underneath.

Then individual parts got a clean ready for some zinc.

I have a new bomb and the leaking pipe I identified previously has been remade at my local hydraulics place.

                                Yes, they do.
And the valve block got a scrub up.

So far I've managed not to damage the sensor connectors (unlike last time I did this job).
