Looking great Dave, you really have done this car justice.

I can't recall without going back to the start of the thread but what sort of condition is the interior in? UV light normally degrades the fabric quite badly however the car was garaged for 30 odd years so hopefully it's still good.

The interior is quite good. A small hole in the drivers seat needs fixing. No UV damage.

Such great work! Although Spring brings lot of good things, it does tend to slow down progress in the shop.

Today I fitted the front subframe.


Verkline bushes going in.



The gearbox was supported using the transmission jack so I could remove my home made support.



I used the old marks to line everything up.

Then the rest of the exhaust went on.






It might need a little tweak as it's touching the floor above the rear diff.

Peter Reeve at Quattro Corner kindly sent me a new circlip of the right dimensions free of charge.


You can see how mangled the old one was.
I wasted no time at all fitting it and it was quite a quick job.

I've been busy doing logs and other such things so haven't spent much time on the Ur.
I did get the hoses all washed. They were disgusting inside.


And after soaking for several days in good penetrating oil, the slave cylinder pipe eventually shifted.


It looks ok but it's getting replaced while I have good access.

19mm and 14mm.
Top nut on hard fitting is 12mm

Good call replacing that manky looking 40 odd year old hydralic pipe whilst it's an easy job, it might be okay but for the sake of few quid it could save you a load of hassle down the line.

Just ordered my custom slave flexi from HEL using their custom builder.
Under £30 delivered for a quality item is a bargain in my view.

Here is what you need if you want one.
Left fitting M12x1mm male swivel
Right fitting M12x1mm female swivel
Length 32cm
I've ordered black but you can choose your own colour.
Use the HEL car custom builder. The motorcycle builder is more expensive!
All fittings are stainless. Should last the life of the car.

Whilst waiting for the new slave pipe I fitted the front off side driveshaft and strut. A little thread lock here.





I also took my brake booster high pressure pipe to a local hydraulic place to get copied. It's been leaking and has made a right mess.

And some of you who know me well will be wondering why I'm not replacing the slave
Well, I was told it was replaced when the clutch was done.
However, having looked at it, you won't be surprised to hear I ordered a new FTE one today.
Do it well, do it once

I decided to make a start on the engine.
Apparently the cambelt was changed recently. It's interesting what I found.


I have an idler pulley and a 120 tooth belt. According to my chassis number I should have no idler and a 113 tooth belt.
I think it was common back in the day to upgrade to the newer version.
Now. More interesting.
After a lot of cleaning, I was able to get the bottom end in time.



Then it was interesting to find the top end was not!




So, whoever did the timing belt change didn't get it right. I can also see that someone used a screwdriver to lock the flywheel which isn't advisable and the crank bolt probably isn't as tight as it should be. So, I've ordered a new gates belt and happen to have an SKF water pump here and will do it again properly.

Under the rocker cover it's a bit grotty.



After a lot of cleaning, I'm getting there.


The turbo is good with no play.


It may have been replaced. Is this an 87 build?


These wires will probably need replacing. They are very hard.


Plenty to keep me busy!
