I've been putting this job off as it's my least favourite.
Cleaning the underside. ;(
So just got stuck in over the weekend.


Front arches are very good.


Just a little patch of surface rust at the end of the sill.


And the odd stone chip.


Sill cleaned up and just needs treating and painting.


Generally, underneath is excellent. When I have cleaned everything, treated any rust spots and painted, everything will get a fresh coat of dinitrol 447 which conveniently is black.

Can you show the products that you are using to treat and paint over any rusty bits.

I made this tool which is handy for the nooks and crannies.


I'm finding very little rust which is a bonus.

That's looking really good, the lack of rust is really outstanding for a B2 chassis car.

I've made a couple of wirebrush extensions for drill's, very handy for getting into the tight spots.

So, after almost a week of work, the underside is almost done.


Some rusty spots were cleaned right back to good metal and treated with Bilt.




I put a small amount in a clean jam jar and use it from there. You can't put your brush in the main bottle as it contaminates it slowly.

Where the rust is between seams, I clean back as best as possible and use this. Fertan seeps into the seams and works really well in difficult spots.


Now, onto prep. I need to de grease everything ready for fresh underseal.
I like this.


Sprayed on pre mixed and a good scrub with washing up brush. Then rinse with warm water.



Crazy humid here in west Wales today so I won't be doing any painting for a while.

Had a push this afternoon and got all the prep done.
This bit behind the battery box is almost impossible to clean. Did my best.




Unfortunately a stone chip on the sill has spread into the paintwork.


Now I just need to heat the garage up and move onto the painting stage.

What pump to rack pipe can I use?
