Looking for the big round grommet that the fuel lines pass through under the car if anyone has a spare. I think S2 Coupe is the same.

Over did it yesterday and today I have a sore back. Taking it easy. But some more nice shiny parts arrived. The rear tie rods are a bmw item and fit perfectly.
The coolant pipe has been soaking in Bilt rust dissolver for a few days and after a wash came out really well.

Pipe looks good. Have you had a go with the sulphamic acid yet? I'm interested to know how well it performs on the expansion tank.

I would probably try some wheel cleaner/fallout remover. The sort that reacts with iron particles. The brown stuff is most likely rust/iron from the block. Good luck, and great project (as always)Comment

Bilt have detailing bottle that deals with iron particle I think so try whatever Bilt rust remover you were soaking the pipe above in.

That's next to try then as the bleach mix has done nothing.
Back getting better and spent the morning in the freezing garage doing the front brakes and struts. All came off without any issues. Even the brake shield bolts all came out in one piece.
Then it's time for walkies.

The front shocks are also original. Surprisingly still working. Dated 1981.
I really need a stronger set of circlip pliers for this job.
All the springs are marked up and ready to go. One mark front, two marks rear and all marks on the top.

It's warmed up a bit in the garage and I spent a few hours there this morning.
The front wishbones, driveshafts and anti roll bar were removed. Everything came apart easily and the wishbone bolts had been well greased at some point in the past.
I used a transmission jack to support the back end of the gearbox whilst the subframe was removed. Thanks Lee.
Then if you remember from my Urs6 project, I made a support for the gearbox and it fits the Ur perfectly.
Front wishbones are good and just need blasting and powder coat. Even the drop links are good. I have new bushes.
