Great effort with the clean up David. That colour will look really good against the Pearl.
This thread has been a really interesting documentary.

Good work and hope we can see it at ADI in October!

no worries....are u planning a trip across the solent in the next week or so? If not can we sort out postage as i'll want to get the aircon working before the Ring trip and get a couple a hundred miles on to ensure its all dry before it gets a proper ragging

                  Looking fanstastic David!

Good luck putting that motor back in, though with everything cleaned up I suspect it may not be quite the nightmare that was first anticipated...

I'm not gonna be able to make the 'ring trip (I had secret hopes ) BUT I'd love to drop by beforehand and see how she's going... fingers crossed the Avant will be back and we can compare cam cover bling

                  Cheers

Cheers Ross.....when you do get it back drop round, look forward to a nosey and also see what effect the big pedal has

Cam cover bling is probably about the only common part our cars will share i'd imagine

dropped in some bits for a powder coat:

                      rear wishbones
intake pipe(s) and right angle plate
                      Fuel rail
                      strut bace
couple of water pipes round the block
                      pcv metal pipe

                      grit blast....£15
                      Powder coat...£20

Hopefully get them back end of the week

local company inn Aldershot called Aurora, seems like a good guy, small outfit so they contract out the grit blast to a shop over the other side of town.

I think I'm going to run out of time before the ring so held off getting the subframes done at the same time but he reckoned on £35-50 for them with a zinc primer

Gives me the confidence and inspiration to have a go myself at some point later in the year, to make sure everything is right working and in good shape, so it will last another 16 years...
Nice work, and great pictures and writeup throughout....
                            respect....!

Is that each and would he be able to do different colours to black? Sounds quite good, have to see how your bits come out.

Cheers Chris....its all a head game taking stuff apart really, like adult lego

Actually glad I have done it myself now, as I kinda know where everything goes now which is cool. Just inevitable that you will break stuff on the way as its old/siezed/i'm clumsy...you get the picture

I will scare the life out of me soon and tot up how much this little effort has cost me

                                Cheers
