Yeah good idea, only thing that is a bit of a problem with these types of cars is access. how did you get on today did try to find out about coming round.

Finally managed to get the engine out today, about bloody time too, thought it was never going to happen
came apart with no real drama but needed a good shove to part company with the gearbox. Of course leaving an unfound bolt attached meant that it took a bit longer, hidden under years of sticky grit and powersteering fluid...
Also the drivers side engine mount nut wouldn't undo so had to drop the engine initially to twist it off the studs and away but it pulled out fine once it was clear

final pic....that bell housing was pretty oily
I'll need to tidy that up.
So, next issue is getting the rack out, i'm sure thats not as easy as it looks

Or do you mean "not as easy as it doesn't look"??
Remember also, this the most accessible your dizzy will ever be

I'd check the dizzy gear and bearings as said, the gasket, replace the rotor arm and cap and why not do the leads as well, then get it timed up absolutely spot on perfect while you can see and get to it.

Easier than quite a lot of things you've already done
and so much easier while the motor is out like this.
