thought i'd upload a couple more pic of progress...

Managed to drain down the fluids and have the a/c gas recovered so out came the radiators

The unions on the a/c are a) huge and b) a bu**er to shift gave up on the a/c radiator and unhooked it straight off the compressor...

Now the full extent of the crap all down the side of the engine can be seen. Also, the amount of G02000 was unbelievable, its has coated everything on the n/s, including the wiring harness which is just a sticky, gunky heap

covered in oil, dirt and as i discovered coolant, leaking from the seal of the metal pipe/thermostat housing.

The car hasn't been moved in well over a month and its still soaked...

Don't forget a thermostat and that daft little pipe next to it that has a tendency to erupt.

lifted the cover off the belts to discover a little crystal farm growing, so add a leaking water pump to the list

                Jas..

Decided to keep the existing stat as it was working fine and new ones seem to be a bit hit and miss. Yep, that pipe is due a change, looks and feels ok but whilst i'm in there makes sense...

sooooo, ChrisM has destroyed his fuel lines on his S4 and as a result won't be able to show me the light tomorrow on the engine removal

However i have convinced myself that between me and Brian we'll get it out

ANY tips on dragging out a 3b much appreciated....i am going in with brute force and ignorance

@ Chris, hope you get the car sorted!

so it's been a mixed day. plan was to get the lump out and start working on getting the rack in.

However, good progress this morning failed to continue this afternoon, despite help from Ross and brian (cheers guys, muuuuuch appreciated). Usual stuff on the s2, siezed stuff and zero access... we couldnt to get the 15mm downpipe nut off, access as usual. In an attempt to separate the exhaust at the base of downpipe, managed to angle grind two of the bolts off but then hit a problem with the 3rd (on top) which just won't budge.

Sooo, i'm left with that bolt to get a hacksaw blade on first thing tomorrow and then free the d/side engine mount which is refusing to play too

Hopefully then it will bloody come out, if not i'll torch it

Sorry to hear that you did not get as much as you would have liked done. Glad to hear that Brian and Ross joined you.

Did Ross actually get his hands dirty? :mischeif:

                          Cheers.

On those seized nuts that won't budge, try tapping them round with a hammer and a cold chisel, once you crack the seal they should start to undo.Worked for me on several occations, good luck.
