yep being swapped from a 7a Martin if the current 3b ****** will be released by the metal cups on the shafts and prop. gave then a good soaking in releasing fluid and whack with a mallet. Any other ideas?

A big hammer is my advice, Tom gave mine a few whacks, ask Fraser (Dougs brother) my prop landed on his head when if finally let go . I did my diff swap at one of Gregs garage meets a few years ago (on a ramp) that was hard enough, must be a bit trickier on a driveway.
If your really stuck i guess you could pop the ball joints out the hubs and release the d/shafts that way.

balljoints have long since left wishbones and balljoints not attached currently, i guess the big hammer is the route then....cheers

                    it lives...

With massive thanks to Peter (aka Acidburn) we managed to re-assemble the engine enough to fire it up After a slightly worrying period when nothing happen on turning the key. We thought the starter motor was sha*ged but after a few minutes of checking everything finally worked out one of the leads on the atarter was in the wrong position. Changed it and on the 2nd keyturn she woke up again after 3 months

Can't tell you how big my smile was, sounded brilliant to hear 5cyls throb away.

Only issue really was that somewhere along the line I've managed to lose a power steering banjo so couldn't fill and bleed the system

Still, plenty to do to finish off the front and time is getting VERY tight but I'll be out first light tomorrow to try and do as much as possible before work.

We finally managed to get the rear diff off and thankfully managed to whip the flanges off and out them on the replacement, however an odd spring loaded seal which we decided wasn't required came back to haunt us when we were starting to bolt it back onto the car. The seal was weeping as a result of the tension not being on the oil seal so we lumped it back out and spent an age desperately trying to get it to seat properly. At 8:30pm under lights we managed to get it back under the car.

                    Few pics:

ABY airbox with foil backed glass weave heat shielding ready to bolt on

                    Parts back from the painters

Final pic, car running whilst bleeding/filling the coolant circuit

BIG thanks to Pete, seriously doubt i'd even be able to consider going away at the end of the week without your help, just hope you get your passport sorted
                    Cheers

Lol same here, was good fun getting it going just wish i'd have known how bad traffic was i'd have stayed later and helped more to re-fit the diff mounts etc.

well done David. I'm chuffed as a mother fungler for you. I'm still miles away from that stage but I can imagine the cheesy grin on your face when it happened.

@Dave - nice work... Nothing quite as satisfying as all the right noises when you turn that key. You took on a LOT of tasks there - full credit for sloggin thru to the end, but they do say there is nothing like an immovable milestone date to hit as a target. WIthout that, these kind of projects can linger on much longer. Great stuff !
