Looks like all these 3B's are ending there lives due to the tuning bug that has got a grip on this forum!! Mine has decided to use oil and leak loads of combustion pressure past the piston rings. Upto a massive 40% on no. 1 cylinder!
So just to make a small list of the parts that I will be replacing, that i can think of for now. Im sure more will be added later in the project.
Block gasket set
Head gasket set
Piston rings
Oil pump
2nd head gasket (will explain in a bit)
Head bolts
Aux. belts
Water pump
Timing belt
Timing chain
Eurospec conrods
7A camshafts
Big end bearings
Main bearings
Balancing
This little lot is gonna cost me about 1200 quids without VAT
But it has to be done. I could get anyway without doing the conrod upgrade, but whilst its apart I want to do a good job and not have to do it all over again.
Now you may be asking about my 2nd headgasket? Well, its because I want to reduce the compression ratio a touch. I will do this be making one gasket out of two, by taking the centre thicker shim and inserting it into another gasket, making it thicker. This will allow me to run more ignition advance at higher boost levels and therefore more power.
