since i'm waiting for the freeze spray to continue underneath I started taking apart the front end.

well i spent about an hour under the car on sat morning with the impact driver and blow torch and couldn't get the buggr to move. I even put the allen socket on it and battered it into the bolt head, then gave it a good impact drivering. nuffin. I did get all 6 bolts loosened ok at the front though. It's just that one and I really don't want to cut it off and mess about trying to get the remains out later.
If the royal mail would ever deliver the cans of freeze spray i'll be giving that a bash.

cheers for the support by the way. very much needed.

i've got a decent set of torx sockets though. have i got the wrong end of the stick? is it a special set of torx because the bolt heads look 10 or 12 pointed or something. more than the standard torx anyway. i just don't want to strip another head if I can avoid it.

    ah nuts.
    cheers for the advice mate
The one bonus is that once youve bought the tolls you've got em for life

torx socket are pretty common nowadays so you will need them again for sure

They are in indeed torx heads mate.
I cant remember the size Im afraid and I dont have a car to check on ATM so you will have to count em

You sadly cant buy them individually (that Ive ever seen) but you need a set that you can fit on to a socket. Halfrauds is probably the 'best' place on a sunday!

I will get a set if I need it. i'm sure my dad had a set and i grew up wondering what the hell it was. It would be a fine addition to my expanding tool kit

no you were not unlucky i had a set of facom ones and they snapped as well the larger ones are fine but the smaller ones just snap and as you said good luck trying to drill them out its just not going to happen
