Agreed, probably within the error of the speedo in anycase

Cheers mate, getting there.
I think the OE magnetic ring is on the diff carrier rather than the output flange so it's a fixed speed relative to the output shaft. Anyway, I don't look at the speedo when I'm going round corners
While I'm on the subject, got a bit more done over the last few days - adapted my ABY cross member to fit the modified ABY intercooler with RS2 sized bar + plate core. Ended up cutting off the original mounting bracket and extending it by adding some more material - should look pretty OEM once its repainted, hoping to get that done one evening this week

Fabricated a stainless bracket to hold the AC drier. Bolts to the chassis leg with stainless rivnuts. I love those things and hate them at the same time. Wish I could TIG like the machine that did the drier body
Now that's done I just need to get another washer bottle as the one I had turned out to be cracked. Once I've got that later this week I can refit the front wings.

Built up the C5 driveshafts - S2 outer CVs fit right on
As above the LH shaft needs a spacer. The RH shaft could do with being 15mm shorter for a perfect fit, but I think with the amount of plunge on the joint, its within its range. I'll see how it goes.

So just a few bits left to do now:
Re-paint crossmember
Fabricate new snub mount
Machine driveshaft spacer
Fabricate bracket for VSS hall sensor pickup
Rebuild PAS pump
Machine new PAS pump bracket for single stage pump to use original bracket
Arrange custom PAS & alternator belt tensioners
Plumb in boost/vacuum lines & fit ECU
Fit intercooler & leak test
Finish exhaust
MOT, Tax

Unbelievable work. I'm jealous - and more of your skills than of the car itself.
I've just read this from the first post and it's possibly one of my favourite build threads ever. And I've read hundreds.
Brilliant.Comment

Thanks mate
I am totally self taught with everything you see, but with enough time & enjoyment of doing it anyone can learn anything
Should have a small update of today's labours shortly

Shot some lovely Panthero metallic on the modified cross member so it now fits the bigger cooler, and it's ready go back on the car

Fabricated a new snub mount bracket:

Now I never like the crappy factory belt tensioning set-up for the alternator or PAS pump so I had to do something better.
I used 316 stainless rigging screws and plastic rodends - no rust!
The rod ends are UK made by Igus. They are only M8 but they have a continuous load rating of 850N

Cut down the rodend threads by 5mm and then cut the threaded ends off the rigging screw and welded them together with a drilled out an M10 nut for something to get a spanner on:

Fitted: Same again for the PAS belt tensioner

Car is almost back together now. Got the wings and arch liners refitted.
You can see the start of the last major job on the floor too -

Almost there now. Need to get it finished soon, engine bay is getting dusty.

Over & out
