Finished up the front brake discs today. 993 turbo rings bolted up to freshly painted bells/hats. I cleaned up the bolts in the media blaster with some glass beads and then shot them with paint. Torqued each bolt to 8 ft/lbs in a "star" pattern. I will allow the paint to cure for a few more days before I mount them on the car.
Here is another one of those interesting "RS2 only" items. It is things like this that make this project so much fun. I never had really thought about it to be honest. I'm rambling a little so I'll get to the point.........
When Porsche decided to fill the rear registration plate area on the RS2 with reflector they also had move the rear registration plate down to the bumper. Well, for obvious reasons the registration plate lights had to move down to the bumper also. The rear hatch is shared nothing special. It is shared with every other 80 avant and S2 avant so the holes for the plate lights were still there and it would not make sense from a cost perspective to have a set of non-functioning lights there just to fill the void so Porsche came up with this simple and crude solution.
The space behind the RS2 center reflector panel. Note the holes where the lights normally would reside. Nice shot of the handle too.
Porsche's solution......two rectangular pieces of plastic.
Mounted.
For my fellow Laurel and Hardy fans. What a fine mess Porsche has gotten us into.
[QUOTE=saltinot;661786]Got the front axle shafts back from the coater today. I chose the semi-gloss black, which looks the part. I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend.
Tom,
Did you get anything special done to your drive shafts other than a blast and powder coat? Looking at getting mine done soon.

Another fairly recent addition to the car is the rare brake servo from the later RS2. This one came to me via Tots complete with the brake master cylinder and the reservoir. I have also been given another one that is in need of a rebuild from Fred (Porci82). I don't think that Audi sells a rebuild kit for these, but I hope that I can put together something.
So I acquired both of them while in Switzerland at Wheelsfest back in September. I knew that Fred had one for me, but I had no idea that Tots was going to surprise me by giving me another one on the same trip. So I stuffed them into my bag and checked them at Zurich airport. I had images of what could possibly happen once on the ground in the US. Pulled off the plane to be interrogated, searched, etc. It wasn't my first rodeo, but I still get nervous because those who are not "car guys" might think something is something when it is really nothing. Anyway, everything went smoothly and the parts are here now. Funny.....I got questioned four years ago about the bright red rear RS2 calipers stamped with Porsche and none about the servos. Both times at Zurich airport.
The part numbers below.
servo 8A1 612 099 A
brake master cylinder 4A0 611 021 C (same as late urS6)
i this the bigger RS2 master cylinder then? can you measure thee diameter?

Do you know if the red handle is shared with any other car (C4 avant maybe)?
I want to run the 90 quattro panel (all red) but need to match the handle as well to be perfect.
Your car is looking better than factory!
Thanks

The handle is crossed over a few platforms. Still available, but make sure you get them to order the red piece. Ended up with black from the Audi 80 avant also crosses with the C4 urs4 etc
