Another fairly recent addition to the car is the rare brake servo from the later RS2. This one came to me via Tots complete with the brake master cylinder and the reservoir. I have also been given another one that is in need of a rebuild from Fred (Porci82). I don't think that Audi sells a rebuild kit for these, but I hope that I can put together something.
So I acquired both of them while in Switzerland at Wheelsfest back in September. I knew that Fred had one for me, but I had no idea that Tots was going to surprise me by giving me another one on the same trip. So I stuffed them into my bag and checked them at Zurich airport. I had images of what could possibly happen once on the ground in the US.
Pulled off the plane to be interrogated, searched, etc. It wasn't my first rodeo, but I still get nervous because those who are not "car guys" might think something is something when it is really nothing.
Anyway, everything went smoothly and the parts are here now. Funny.....I got questioned four years ago about the bright red rear RS2 calipers stamped with Porsche and none about the servos. Both times at Zurich airport.
The part numbers below.
servo 8A1 612 099 A
brake master cylinder 4A0 611 021 C (same as late urS6)

know what you mean, all I had with me was a bag of clothes for the journey and I got searched 4 times going to/from the states and once in vegas. I'd hate to think what would have happened if i'd taken anything mechanical/electrical.
Car's coming along well mate.Comment

hey Tom, have the same dilemma with the rear spoiler.. My only problem is where to pass the wiring into the lid? Would this be possible without drilling a hole in the lid?
Also, how's the fitting of the spoiler onto the top of the lid? Did you have to do some grinding to fit it?

Vielen Dank Bobby. Greetings from the US!
I wish I could have. Honestly, I was there towards the end and there was not many RS2 or S2 parts available. He has since reopened on a smaller local scale. He had one an RS2 a few months back and the servo was from this car. Until last week most of the parts were still there, but he put them for sale on a Swiss online auction for local collection only.Comment

It's a tough decision for sure. Yes, you must drill a hole in the top of the rear hatch to run the wiring.hey Tom, have the same dilemma with the rear spoiler.. My only problem is where to pass the wiring into the lid? Would this be possible without drilling a hole in the lid?

The other thing is that once you've mounted it it isn't coming off without a fight. My car originally had a spoiler and the previous owner removed it before selling the shell to me. I had to replace the hatch with another because the top of the hatch was covered in dimples where he had use a large screw driver to pry the spoiler off.
The spoiler fits well out of the box, but as you said it will need a little bit of sanding in a couple of places to get it to sit flush to the top of the hatch.
I'll make my decision on what to do about the spoiler once I've got the glass mounted. Hopefully this will happen soon as my container of parts left port this past Tuesday.

Might be of some interest regarding your "rare" brake servo http://bmw8.us/Brake%20Booster%20Rebuild.htm
