Then tried my new wheels on. They have a little poke, perhaps time for some S1 arches!

            • Superb project .

However I must note (for other forum members reading this thread and having older 016 boxes), that you must had dealing with strange gearboxes .

I have punched that rolled thing from different boxes - around ten times, never needed to go for a drill. One time did that while box in the car, that was real PITA (no space for hammer). You just need right size mild steel wire and proper hammer . It is essential to hammer pin from both sides before starting to push it from one.

Usually grease monkeys forget that rolled thing, and break whole assembly from the box.

P.S. I don't like F1 wheels on your car to be honest. SQ ones look thousand times better .

              • I never mentioned drilling the pin out? Just said its not ideal to have to hammer it out with a drift. Hence I made the new piece which is far easier to work with.

F1 wheel is just a joke by the way!

                    • Managed to get the shifter finished off. I made the alloy piece into a nicer shape with a bit of filing, then turned an alloy spacer for the link bar and fired some crackle black on the forward half.

Got the boot and spoiler all sorted. Had to cut down the spoiler studs as they fouled on the boot strut which was a bit of a pain in the ****. Replaced all the bolts, nuts, and washers with stainless. Lastly fitted the boot catches which i had to space out as they were touching the paint. So I turned some alloy on the laithe which sorted that little problem.

I have bought a turbo for it which is coming next week hopefully. I am having a one off manifold made for it so will be building a jig for it soon. I am also looking at getting a one piece propshaft made and finish up all the jobs on the underside.

                        • Awesome ! I love this car

Jokes aside if you want some centre locks I can sort out some hubs and their are plenty of wheels available.

                            • Had a nice little delivery today! The turbo turned up from America. Its a Garrett G35r modified by forced performance, so it has there billet compressor wheel in it to give quicker spool up and a little more power. It also has a tial V-band exhaust housing so no bolts to mess about with.

Also got a small airfilter to go with it!

I can now get on an make up a jig for the exhaust manifold and get it underway.
