Built the axle stands for the sills this weekend. They just need some feet and a coat of paint and they are done. They are 600mm high so there is plenty of space to work on the underside.

I picked the doors and bumper up from the painters yesterday. I am pleased I hacked the doors as they still feel nice and light despite the paint and filler on them.

The engine came back from the machine shop last week. Its been bored for the new JE pistons, decided on 4 thou clearance for them. The block has also been decked to make sure its perfectly flat. Had the crank checked as well and each journal is perfect to the thousandth for book specs. Hoping to gather up all the remaining engine bits and get on with building it in the next few months.

Everything is now here to get the engine built up once its all been away for balancing.

The 150mm Pauter con rods, riffle drilled for direct little end oiling:

          Helix Paddle clutch:

          Heavy duty cover plate:

          36-1 crank trigger wheel:

Also got a steering wheel boss and a removable one. Santa might be bringing a nice steering wheel for christmas to go with them!

All of the bottom end is going down to the guy who did the cylinder head for balancing next week. Also taking the cylinder head back down to have a boss for the cam trigger sensor welded to it for the Autronic management. Hoping to get the engine built up, bolted to the gearbox and in the car in the next couple of months.

Finally did a little work on the car today. Got the doors built up with the windows and mirrors, and mounted to the car to check the fitment:

Then mounted the steering wheel and the bosses onto the car:

Feels just about right so I might get away without having the drop the column down.

Cant wait to see it with the rest of the panels on now! Also dropped the bottom end off with the guy who did the cylinder head to have the whole lot balanced.

Got the roof vent mounted which took a good while to get right as it didn't follow the profile of the roof at all well, there was about a 10mm gap down each side. So some time spent with a grinder and it was sorted. Mounted it on the same tape as I used for the windows to keep the water out:

Todays job was sorting the doors properly. I remade the steel plates for the hinge bolts out of alloy because well they look better! Then I made up a way to open the doors from the inside as some fool cut the old handle out! So its now a length of 2mm 316 grade stainless rigging wire with an electric terminal one and and a loop the other:

So thats its for now, hoping to have the panels and engine bits back in February so I can realy get things moving! Oh and I now have a heated windscreen here waiting to go in so its should be looking more car like very soon!

Been a while since an update so here goes........

I was going to bolt the driveshafts on but couldn't bring myself to use the old spreader plates that go behind the bolts. So I decided to make them out of stainless. No water jets or lasers used to cut them all done with a grinder, half the reason they took so bloody long to do! Drilling them was another epic as the drill bit kept wandering off even in the pillar drill, so into the laithe it was.

After they were finally done I moved onto the radiator scoop as it needed some protection from any debris. So I got some aliminium mesh and made that fit after a lot of persuasion, hopefully that will stop any large pieces holing the rad.

The best part of the update is the next bit! The panels are back from painters and look excellent. Everything is just thrown on for a first look, so a bit of tweeking will having it looking spot on! Also had the heated windscreen fitted by a chap who had it done in 10 mins, I didn't want to risk breaking it myself!

Amazing to see it all together for the first time! Realy starting to look like a car now! I am going to get the front end fitted properly this weekend, should get the headlights, indicators and front grills in. The bottom end of the engine has been balanced and is ready to pick up so the engine build will begin in march!
