Is that possible on a OEM ABY cylinder head running ADU cams and the RS2 IC?

If so, and I read that Kalsket hit 458HP on a flowed cylinderhead with a GT2871R then indeed I think I should be able to push out close to 480-490HP with this turbo.....
What kind of Dyno? If it is a Dastek or Dynojet, they provide whp numbers that are higher than in real life.
25-30% loss with 368whp would mean 490-525 at the crank.

My 368 HP was measured on a SuperFlow bench, as discussed earlier.

True, was too lazy to look...

Superflows read low, at least in this test:

              Hi Jamo,

Do you think that it will greatly improve the cars NMs and BHP when I will change the RS2 IC and ABY IM into Wagners IC and IM?

It seems that the ABY IM and RS2 IC do a great job, but when I look at my RR diagram it seems in the higher RPMs something is blocking the HP performance line. Is it the RS2 IC, the non-flowed head, the GT3071R limit, the MAF-limit? For now I would like to stick with the GT3071R as it kicks in so nicely at low RPMs :mischeif:

Also do you think that this turbo will really benefit from a ported cylinder head? I hope this turbo is capable to produce a bit more HP than it gives right now. I know that the NMs will increase once the new clutch is in and my tuner will pump her up to 2.0 bar.

I am still doubting if I will go for a 6-pad Sinter clutch from Joe or a Sachs Race Organic clutch. I do not participate in sprints, just 'normal' driving on the road, so do you have any advise for me?

A lot of questions I have, but I also have saved some money now so I am looking into improvements for the moment when I get back from India (March) and start working on my car again

              Cheers

The Wagner IM performance cannot be quantified in terms of BHP or NM

It's benefits are reducing the inlet track therefore improving throttle response and also the charge air temp should be lower as it will not be heated by going over the turbo.

Likewise a better IC will reduce charge air temp and allow you to run 2 bar or above with the 3071r

Your car setup is at the point to get the extra bhp will cost the most.

A reduction in charge air temp will have a big effect on performance, cooler air is more dense therefore better burn and better performance.

I would say head porting and cam timing are the next things on your agenda. Speak with Aelred & Repo they are the daddies

But maybe the Wagner IM will also balance the inlet Air flow better because of the very linear airflow between the 5 runners, and thus improve the overal BHP?

I believe you problem would be backpressure from the very small 0.63 housing! It gives great spool but kills th etop end.

If head isn't ported then it can't advantage of the increase airlfow possibilities to it's maximum.

You aint going to see a bhp increase of magnitude IMO.

So what would be the maximum HP a non-ported head can produce? 450, 475?

It isn't in terms of BHP! BHP limit is your turbo lets say theoretical maximum of the turbo say 450 crank

To reach that maximum all your other parts have to be capable of maximum efficiency.

Porting you head increases VE efficiency of the engine.

OK, I understand your point, however maybe I asked the wrong question. Off course I understand that a Turbo is producing the HPs, however there must be a limit of HP with respect to max flow of the head? Where would this limit be? 450 HP?

What I would like to know is would I get extra HP when switching to a GT30 instead of the GT3071R and still keep the non-ported Cylinder head?

I almost presume that switching from the GT3071R to a GT30 will not bring my setup up to 480-500 HP by just switching turbo's is it?

You haven't understood as your still asking about a BHP limit. There is no bhp limit VE is a percentage so lets say at the moment you standard head can only cope with 85% of the turbo's output.

Porting can bring it to lets say 90-95%

Therefore the limit will never be a hard figure as if you put on a bigger turbo say a GT35R you will get more BHP than the 450 limit you have in your mind

aha, OK. Well in that case I learned something new today. Thanks for the info!

I thought that there would be a limit of pumping air into the block and thus a limit of HP coming out of it again.
But I am no engine expert, so that's why I asked
