Have also picked up a late spec black leather interior compete with door cards and handles as well as a really tidy parcel shelf & spare wheel cover, it was pretty grubby but the overall condition is excellent. I spent today cleaning and and feeding the leather, it's come up a treat, I'm about to give the whole lot another coat of feed and leave it overnight to soak in as the backs of the rears seats are quite dry from being in the sun. With the two near mint fronts I got from AndyD I'm going to able to put together an exceptionally tidy and original interior at last

Going to be fitting the rear seats and cards tomorrow so I'll post some pic's up then.

I will be there though, hopefully there's going to be an S2forum stand?

Very soon I'm going to run out of mechanical things to fix and the interior should be exceptional so I'm going to have to start thinking about body work, oh the joy

Good to hear the seats have come up a treat and turned out to be really tidy! Excellent stuff.

Hearing you talk about turning your attention to bodywork is sending shivers down my spine.I Turned to audi 20 years ago as i enjoyed driving them but also became fed up with rust consuming otherwise good cars.I think i would turn grey overnight if any of my "Galvanised" Audis needed serious bodywork. If that happened i would have to get a BOC account again to put the SIP Ideal 240 back into service and the spot welder. Oh the joy's and some happy times but not on a galvanised Audi please.

Hope your bodywork is nothing more than paint?

Oh no mate, really to do the job properly I'm going to have either replace or straighten both sill's, there's some accident damage hiding at the end of the nearside one and they both have other retard inflicted jack or ramp damage.

However the only serious rust I have to contend with is along the seam between the rear panel and the floor pan, it's obviously had an **** end in the past and again to do it properly I'm going to have to replace the whole panel. However I may simply do a very tidy job of splicing in some new metal as the corrosion is localised along the seams, I'll get it stripped back before I make a decision on how to tackle it. Tonks had very similar rust issues with his 3B and did a cracking job of repairing it, it's also hidden by the rear bumper.

Windscreen needs to come out as well but that's not a big deal, just because the fit is rubbish and causes leaks.

I'm waiting on a mate to finish his workshop so I can use his shiny new spray booth and equipment to do the work, should done in the next 12 months.

All in all a fair bit of trouble but I've come this far and it's a particularly early car so it would be nice to do a proper job of saving the old girl, many would have broken her

Sorry to hear that mate.:I agree with you as you have come this far.( You definately need to strip all and sundry in that area to make an informed choice. Yes, you could make up your own repair pieces and do a good job.The sills are much more frightening to do a proper job though.

It's rewarding when you have finished for sure and can admire your handy work. I am fine with a spanner and not at all frightened by the 3B,ANN but it's the bodywork and welding that i have had loads of experience in.Mates used to come to me with their late night indiscretions involving scrapes and small prangs. back in the day.

I used to buy the odd car fix the small prang and sell on.All done with Vorsprung durch Technik of course.Lol. Thats why i still have body panels today.I bought B2 rear arches only because they were going cheep at the old Discount Body Panels of white city.I am guarding them jealously in case i might want to use them one day.

Yeah's it's a bit of a PITA but I'm not adverse to bodywork myself, I'm not quick enough to do it professionally, spanners are more my thing, but with endless time I know I can do a nice job of it.

I've removed Coupe sill's before, it's not a job that can be rushed but they do come off cleanly enough once you've drilled out 1001 spot welds, fitting the new panel is less grief than removing the old. I may end up repairing them instead as it less invasive. Again, until I strip the paint back I don't know what I'm dealing with.

I'd like to think I'll make the car good for the foreseeable future, H456 GLF deserves it.

Yeah you've done it before. 1001 spot welds to drill out If you find them all.Lol. And sometimes you never quite get a few dead central and leave metal undrilled therefore attached. They then become a bitch and a right PITA those unstitched ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck with it Kit,there car definately deserves it.

This arrived from Germany this morning, it's in excellent condition as described, no play at all or crack's. according to the listing it's only covered 6K miles from new as the previous owner upgraded soon after fitting it.

Has the serial number 5324 988 7200 and all the measurements check out

Cheers, was a bit of a gamble as the seller only takes bank transfer, however all his excellent feedback is from buyers and I got my RS2 intercooler from him years ago and that was fine.

Well the first test run went fine other then I forgot to tighten the the throttle body hose and had to stop and sort it out after a second of intense worry. No oil/water leaks, funny noise's or smoke so I'm a very happy man. Didn't give it any real stick as I want to take it easy to start with and do a proper boost leak test before opening it right up, it does feel very strong though with more lag than before with the hybrid.

Hopefully it will have a little bit more pull to make up for the lag, though more importantly with matched hardware/software it should see many happy miles of motoring.

There loads of them but can be suspect in the car parts game. All anyone has to do is spend time looking at their feedback.Simples. If no feedback to speak of take a wide berth.
