      Oil or water?

MFTS is unplugged in disgust, I will get back to that later.

With the stock cooler it sat about 90, would go up to 100 after repeated pulls, then I was letting it drop again. Hence the oil cooler so I can just ignore it and not worry.

With the new cooler it just sat solid at 90, only did 3 pulls though.

4 new tyres fitted to the BBS wheels, 235/45/17 for simplicity, swapped the old tyres onto the avus wheels to get finished on track.

Ended up taking the s2 for a 3 hour drive after work (sisters water pump has shat itself, so timing belt job to do ), longest run so far, car drives great, very smooth/quick.

Still have intermittent no idle, sometimes its perfect, sometimes nothing (I have a "new" throttle body coming as there is an intermittent fault for closed throttle switch, so I suspect that could cause no idle if you snap the throttle shut and the ECU does not see it?)

New issue; car died and I either let out the clutch in gear, or started it normally, HIDs flickered as the car started (normal) and all the instrument illumination died, then all the instruments died. Instruments fuse ok, is there a relay? I know there is a VDO one behind the aux gauges.

Also had a brief no right hand indicator when braking with the lights on?

Guessing a few electrical gremlins from sitting.

Ahh a good old 1Z, did dozen's of them when I was full time in the trade, as long as you've got the camshaft locking tool your laughing.

The 235/45's are an interesting choice, what made you go for them mate? Once I've toasted the 225/45 Toyo's I have on my Compomotives I'll be fitting a set of 215/45 R1R's.

After you did a cracking job of improving your intake pipe work I take it's all staying put now mate?

Looks like I'm going to have to replace to little 90 degree bend under the ISV, it's starting split as well the 2" long straight pipe from the ISV to throttle body hose which isn't looking too hot.. I'm sure I can find some black silicone bit's on eBay to do the job.

My building materials sound insulation project worked well, my stripped carpets now fit properly and the cabin is much, much more civlised, no exhaust drone as I covered the tunnel. I'll weight it again soon to see where she at now, can't see it beeing over 1350KG's with a full tank, no me or spare wheel

This unplanned, so didnt get a chance to order tools.

Found sizes on the net so was able to improvise, and have vag com so can set the pump timing.

Counterhold (made for a 16v? years ago with an aldi mig )

                    Cam timing

Intermediate shaft was weeping though, so will get a new seal on monday

                    Cleaned up in the meantime

                    Tensioner was stamped 07 95

235s were the widest I can fit without hassle, reasonable cost, reasonable width for 8J.

Why are you going for 215s? Tram lining?

Cheers Tim. Seems like a good location, time will tell Long hoses mean it can be swung up out the way easily for access.

Looks like it would be a good cash job once you have done one.

So far no issues, still should leak test it to make sure But all hoses stayed put so far, longest drive yet.

A couple of ebay silicone bits should sort that, and hopefully thats you got almost everything new?

That sounds good. I imagine I will end up doing that in a bit, but first I am going to sicken myself with it as a stripped out track slag muppet

Probably wont take too long for the novelty to wear off.

Need to sort any leaks out first, I want to fit a heated screen and seal the A pillar in one go.

Unbranded that I got second hand with the intercooler years ago, so cant really complain.

There is nothing for it to rub one which is weird, maybe just an ebay special?

I guess samco for high quality replacement rather than an ebay one? Or any other suggestions for good reducer hoses-roose?

I'd have thought you would still be ok with a 3 or 4 ply(?) unbranded hose although it can always be peace of mind with a known quality part.
