Yeah, I am not feeling the love for bodywork.

Yup, mechanical lock, big tooth ratchet that falls into cut outs as you lift, electric solenoid lifts the pawl out the groove when you need to lower.

The lift looks cool, I was eyeing those up recently, looks like a good piece of kit.... mind your fingers
That would probably have been the final straw.

Lift is really nice, so easy to use. I have been looking at these, the twin scissors like DJones has and the MaxJax mini 2 posts. This one came up at the right price locally so it was a no brainer.

Had a quick go at the S2 after I fitted the A4s coolant hose.

        Filler/primer off

Bashed out (PITA as there is a bracket on the inside in the way, slipped a thin dolly in, and used a drift through a hole in the bracket, then bashed the high spots back in onto the thin dolly slipped in behind the bracket again) I couldn't get that sharply kinked dent out

        Skimmed

Spoiler ground out, not nearly as bad/deep as I thought it looked.

        Glassed

        Looking a little better again.

A4 has been doing my head in, so not much more progress.

Tried a paint gun for the first time, managed to lay down a nice coat of orange peel Only one run though. Had a few teething issues, should have stirred the paint in the tin properly Turned on the compressor at the wall, rather than just use the air in the tank.

Anyway I will wet sand this once its sat for a day or so, give it another couple of coats and then wet sand 1200/rubbing compound/polish and see what happens.

Quarter is now wet sanded to an even matt finish, awaiting paint.

The door strip on passanger door has always had a few stone chips, but recently has been getting a bit ridiculous, I think its been painted and there was water bubbles? Anyway flattened it, and filled the holes.

                  Knifing putty on

                  Sanded flat

Lance was kind enough to send me these after he cut his turret tops. Should help with making a set of top mounts up.

Picked up a couple of sets Mount savers in the meantime(alloy ring against the body or the mount?)

All together, you can see it stops the mount getting squashed

Also thinking of trying a rear rubber ring as long as it doesn't bind, to prevent the clunk when the cup drops onto the body if the wheel drops down.

I've just been reminiscing from post 1 up to here Andy Great work. Is this the original body work you're sorting out (rather than anything that's happened since you owned it)?

It will rub the body when turning.

                        Hey stranger, how you doing?

Yup, this is sorting the original crash damage, it was only hammered out, and rattle canned on the driveway when I first got it. Other problem was some filler from a previous repair had cracked and water got behind it. So taking the opportunity to fix it a bit better this time.

I am sure you will get something interesting, you know maybe when the kids have left home

Does it jam or just rub?

Might try trimming it a bit then.

It depends on height and condition of the rubber strut, but there can be extra squeaks. Many people try to put some rubber seal there, usually with no sensible result )

My ghetto way of getting the paint under the rear window seal. Prised the seal up, slipped the tape underneath, pushed the seal down onto the tape, then pull the tape up and stick it to the glass. First bit is a bit fiddly, but then you just slide it in from there and batter along. Not ideal but better than painting up to the seal.

                              Got the door strip painted.

                              Quarter done as well.

                              And painted

Quite enjoying the painting, good fun. Need more practice first though, starting to get the feel of it when I was finishing. Also thing I need to adjust paint or air pressure, as I seem to be putting on a **** lot of paint.

Good going, looking good. Lacquer/ top coat in my mind seem to be the most difficult to get right.
