        • Its been a long time since my last real update, so I am gona ease back into it and start with a small job.

          Mirrors:

My mirrors where in good enough condition before the respray but the bases suffered from corrosion inside the rubber, making it bumpy in appearance.

I bought a spare set from the forum a long long time ago, and the bases were in good condition. Unfortunately the bolt attaching the mirrors to the bases
were seized solid. After pondering on what to do for a long time I decided I had to uses the destructive method of freeing the bases. This meant cutting off the
old covers and cracking the alloy mirror support so I could get good purchase on the bolt.

After failing with the vicegrips "nut lathe", I need heat but I didnt want to use a torch/flame.

After heating it with a cheap ZVS induction heater I had success.

          All the bits

          Newly painted mirror plastics.

          Right hand side after soldering.

          Left hand side after soldering.

          Cover over the wires

Finished mirrors with nice bases and electrics wired up.

How do you remove the glass from the mirror? One of mine no longer heats and I'd like to replace the innards

                      • Good idea with the induction heater. I wonder if that would work on corroded brake caliper bleed nippels ?

                        • It would work better as the diameter is smaller, just wind the coil to a smaller diameter. This item was about £7 on Banggood.com

                          • I didn't know they could be had that cheap. When I had the allignment done the mechanic used an induction heater to free up the tie rod ends, worked a threat
