Your probably right Jim i've got docs and mags on it somewhere but I would check just incase as I know in some case the ecu on the r32 wont run if you dont have the window motors from the original car! this coding malarky of parts is getting out of hand
Last week i got the mounts sorted for the 1.8t engine and lowered the engine in to see how it sat, its spot on.
Once that was done I sent all the ally parts off for vapour blasting, these came back lovely. Pics to follow.
This week I POR15'd the subframe, welded and painted the wishbone arms, installed mew subframe bushes, painted the 5 stud bearing housings and hubs and fitted with new bearings. The drive shafts are half way through a re-furb. I welded the mounts on the strut tops for a strut brace, painted up my calipers and refitted most of this lot back on.
I am using an AMK 5speed box which has a taller final drive (it'll decrease rpms by about 200 in top gear) This is now fitted with new mounts and all the suspension is more or less in place. I have pics of this but i need to get them off my phone.
Progress will be a little slower as of now as I was in hospital on friday having an opp on my ankle, i am on crutches non weight bearing for 6 weeks. I will however be carrying on doing things like wiring etc.
That is a good bit of progress. What brackets did you use to mount the engine?
Hope the leg gets sorted quickly, you going to be able to drive?
I cant drive for 6 weeks Gona be nightmare lol. It was a micro fracture so its non weight bearing. Gona take it easy this week, cocodamol is good stuff
To mount the engine I used the standard mount from the 16v on the nearside, and the off side is off the 1.8 ADR cabriolet (8A0 199 308 J) Bolts right up

That is going to send you nuts. What did you do anyway?

Good to know on the engine mounts.
I hav/had a chunk of cartilage missing from my left ankle, was cusing pain and discomfort but worst bit was if i didnt have anything done it would of gone arthritic, not what I want at 25. Surgeon did some drilling to make some scar tissue to fill the hole apparently
Yeah is gona drive me bonkers Pushed really hard to get alot of the big physical stuff done on the car last week. Im hoping I can go down over next couple of weeks and get a good look at the wiring. I should be able to do that sitting in a wheel chair I have acquired, I pulled most of the wires through to the engine bay last week lol.
Well initially quite a bit as I ended up buying 2 sets of callipers/ carriers to get the right bits as I didnt know what I was looking for. I could of done the same set up with 54mm callipers (as this is what i bought first) for £210 including new discs and pads(as below). But I opted to get a set of 57mm callipers which set me back another £70. (although I recon I can get that back for the 54mm callipers.
I was pretty lucky as the 54mm callipers came with the carriers, these are the expensive bit as they are the key to going from 288 mm to 312mm on alot of vw audi vehicles.
The discs were £70 for the pair (genuine)
Pads £36 for the set (genuine)
57mm calipers £70
54mm calipers and carriers £100
Total = £276 minus whatever I get for the 54mm callipers
nice so did you use tt or passat/a6 carriers in the end? or are they all the same? i can't work it out lol
Lol, I aint so sure either. I used the carriers that came with the TT callipers, designed for 312mm discs. Believe these are the same ones - http://www.jabbasport.com/store/inde...&ref=8N0615125 p/t No. 4B0 615 125 A
