So... now that I have linked the plug colours to 1997 AEB schematic... are you OK to proceed - do you know how to find the right places on your Coupe to splice, connect into ?Paul Nugent

Does it matter as to where the barometric sensor is located. With the setup I have planned it will be inside the car under the dash! While I have the loom in bits I can remove it and place it in the engine compartment if that would be better.Comment

Oh let me know if you have a relay or a bridge on the Coupes fusebox at #8
Can you see for example that you would need to take T6z/3 from your red plug to the E50 terminal on the CEP ?
I am referring to this for your ACE loomed car http://www.s2central.net/S2_Schematics/B/B71.PDF
And I am using Schematic #22 from the Bentley dated 6/96 for MY97 AEB... i dont have elsie up and running yet on this machinePaul Nugent

I have alot sorted but there are still some connections I am unsure of.
I'll start with the fuel pump relay wires. On the engine loom:
T6z pin4 - Red/Green
T10z pin6 - Red/Blue
pin8 - Green/Yellow
These would have gone to the fuel pump relay I think, I am unsure of how to connect these up.
On the car between the bulkhead and ecu I have a Red/Blue that goes to the fuel pump relay in the car, thats all I have found for now.Comment

Barometric sensor generally lives in the footwell - tucked in behind the passenger side A pillar - you might even find the S2/RS2 location complete with screw hole on your Coupe ! its just behind the lower A-pillar trim... where a moisture trap for the boost line to the ECU lives as well - dont forget that !Paul Nugent

The best way to think of the FPRy is as follows...
On the CEP we have 30, 15 and 31 (0V) already in place at relay position 10 in the main fuse box... the relay uses these - the vehicle loom provides for that. The engine related pins for the AEB application are as follows
T10z / 6 - red/blue...
This goes to 0V when ECU is happy to activate the fuel pump. Exactly same as per S2/RS2... take this wire to the 'BS' pin on the CEP... I see its already red/blue on the ACE loom - nice easy splice depending on how you removed the old loom !
T10z / 8 - green/yellow...
This is an output from the FPRy on CEP terminal '87a' that you would need to run through a fuse... you can use spare fuse positions in your CEP if you collect the right bits together. AGain looking at ACE loom you have S25 available here from 87a
T6z / 4 - red/green...
This is another FPRy output that needs to go thru a fuse... this wires up to the 'O' terminal on the CEP which would be unused on your ACE.
The wire to the actual fuel pump comes already via FPRy (now activated by AEB ECU) through S13 on your fusebox out of the H87F terminal on your CEP.
Is this making any sense without diagrams ?

I have been using the later set of diagrams you have on your site for the 94 coupe ACE C49, this may be wrong, I have noticed very few differences but there are some.Oh let me know if you have a relay or a bridge on the Coupes fusebox at #8
Can you see for example that you would need to take T6z/3 from your red plug to the E50 terminal on the CEP ?

That T6z/3 Red/Black I wasn't so sure about. I dont think that wire is in the loom where I am cutting and joining in the plugs for the new loom. Therefore I came to the conclusion that it was part of a seperate loom that was still in place?Comment

I'd be 99% sure that red/black wire from T6z/3 goes to a spade terminal for the starter solenoid in the engine bay - i.e. terminal 50
Hence why it needs to come from CEP #8 on your Coupe... you are right to use correct MY by the way... how else would 'crank' signal from the ignition switch get to the AEB starter motor ?
Did you unplug all of the ACE related looms from the CEP ?
I hope so cos that will make things nice and clean for AEB install.Paul Nugent

Im not with the car at the mo, but I think it is bridged as there is no alarm, i'll check on this next time i can get to the car.
I think I understand that bit.The best way to think of the FPRy is as follows...
On the CEP we have 30, 15 and 31 (0V) already in place at relay position 10 in the main fuse box... the relay uses these - the vehicle loom provides for that. The engine related pins for the AEB application are as follows
Thats nice and simple!
Not so sure on this.T10z / 8 - green/yellow...

Or this.
Or this. I really need to go away and have a think about this to get it straight in my head. Im sure it will click eventually
I have wiring diagrams in front of me as we speak but im getting bogged down with some bits so i'll have a break and think about it.
I think that wire comes in a different part of the loom to the engine bay, bypassing where i will be cutting in, therefore that will remain from the cars original loom.I'd be 99% sure that red/black wire from T6z/3 goes to a spade terminal for the starter solenoid in the engine bay - i.e. terminal 50
Hence why it needs to come from CEP #8 on your Coupe... you are right to use correct MY by the way... how else would 'crank' signal from the ignition switch get to the AEB starter motor ?

I have not cut the wiring or removed any of the loom yet. I was trying to avoid going too near the fuse box. I have not got the whole heater out the car and was trying to avoid this too. Was going to try keep all my wiring on the near side of the car.
I need a brew lol, thanks for your help paul, sorry im a bit slow on the uptake

My advice is to do teh following... it will take some time but gives you loads of room to work and easily see where best to route cables.
1 - Remove the dashboard... not anything like as complicated as you might think - bit fiddly here and there but exposes everything to the eye
2 - Remove the ACE engine loom complete... including unplugging from where it meets the CEP and any other plugs in around the spaghetti above the drivers pedals... mark these unplugged locations with tape for clarity
3 - Now you have the ACE plugs that used to fit on the car... makes it real easy to graft the AEB loom in for plug and play...
The alternative to the above is removing the ACE loom and having to cut it various places under the CEP which makes it trickier to access for splicing and such when fitting the AEB loom... especially so if the dash is in the way and you are working upside down with your head in the footwell - BTDT (and will be again this week on a UR conversion job this week) - its not pleasant.Paul Nugent

This is the sort of **** retentive thing I do to keep track of all such wires on conversions... its only half done as I havent tabulated the ACE side of the house but you get the idea.Attached FilesPaul Nugent

Thats exactly what I needed. I was thinking about making one of these, you have given me a great head start.
I have made some adjustments to what I have and dont have, see what you think -Attached FilesComment

Stripping looms requires a lot of patience, I did an abf one, the engine loom also incorporated the lights etc
.
I would also go with Paul about taking the dash, label everything, I think it is easier to get your head round that way.

Oh the plot thickens then... differences are probably explained by way of Bentley diagrams maybe being specific to US market but a few things irk me...
- why no OBD pins from your ECU
- why no MIL from your ECU
- do the ECU pins I referenced for OBD & MIL exist on your ECU connector
there does seem to be 3 extra wires on your plugs that I didnt find in the Bentley so maybe they are the missing three wires for OBD & MIL.
- you could be right about RPM pin there... I was only going by a common wire colour - have not managed to find an AEB ECU pinout online... you would think that some of the 1.8T jockeys in the world would have posted that somewhere obvious already
- glad you dont have the 'diagnosis pump' either as I have no bleeding clue what that is aboutPaul Nugent
