Had another look at 'B71' sheets here for the ACE engine...

To remove the loom cleanly from the CEP it looks like all you need to unplug is the following

    1 x L30 wire
    87a and its associated fuse
    The black 'B' plug

By removing the 'B' plug makes it easy for you to splice in the wires for B15, B15a and BS onto the AEB loom. Result will be really neat too.

I havent bottomed out on the reverse lights yet though... they might be part of ACE engine loom (the switch is certainly on the 5cyl looms) or they may be in another loom.

It appears the ACE engine uses generic Coupe loom to feed the starter solenoid signal down to the right location... so you can access it via a splice at CEP or the engine end of the loom as you like.

I looked at MY98 diagrams and resolved two of the three oddball wires...

This the AEB diagram I believe to be correct for the datestamp provided... Only one wire eludes me on T10m/4... would be great if Jim can buzz that out to where it ends up on the vehicle loom or ECU plug.

Ok cool, I'll check on the chassi No. for my car, I hope I have it at home somewhere. Im house bound at the mo, still on crutches for 3 more weeks.

Thanks for that paul, so I dont need to pull that much to get the whole loom out, that way it will be easier to put the whole lot on a table and splice in there and like you say make a really neet job of it.

The reverse lights I think may be in the engine loom for both cars, im sure both have 2 plugs that go to the gearbox, therefore I should be able to join these at the bulkhead too.

It heads to the oil filter housing along with T10m/3 ws/gr. Really wierd how its not on the diagrams.

I have the old loom that has the old 5 ECU plug arrangement and its the same on that too.

Ahhhhh - might it be for oil temp or pressure then - what does the connector look like on the engine end and can you match it up to anything physical on the engine in that area ?

Maybe only shows up on AUX gauge wiring... if/where that applies to a B5 machine ?

Yes... CEP plug B15a is your friend there... hence my point of extracting that black plug cleanly from the CEP with the old loom. You need to look at MY94 general loom to locate the plug where the reverse light feed joins the main loom to get to the reverse lamps. I can check that if you wish.

                Cheers

                  Some more ikkle discoveries then...

ECU pin 19 on gn/sw is the 'W-wire' to dash panel for integrated immo on B5 machine... you wont need that with your hacked ECU.

Also note reference to 'oil temperature' on T32a / 21 in the attached doc - this must be the missing wire

These docs show where the oil temp sensor (G8) lives... must surely be the mystery one but I can't find any reference to it in B5 electricals - most strange.

Gotta hope the dynamic range of the sensor matches B3/B4 aux gauge... and you *might* be able to use the S2/RS2 combo sensor in place of silly F1 on the AEB motor to drive B3/B4 pressure gauge in aux location.

Is this all making sense or are you drowning in spaghetti hell ?

I think it might be, it has a black plastic sleeve covering it like the one in the pic bellow.

Yeah that green and black was attached to the white immo box.

Yeah I was wondering the same thing but I understand others with AEB use a T piece on the pressure switch location to add in a pressure sender for a gauge.

The attached picture shows the sensor/sender I have on my old ACE engine. The black plastic cover over one of the terminals is the same style as attached to my mystery bl/ws wire.

I actually have the front part of the car loom from the A4 and have been tracing all the wires back to their locations in fuse boxes etc, then pulling them out to go with my male ends for the 4 plugs.
The mystery bl/ws wire was not connected to anything (I am 98% sure of that) I found it yesterday, was a bit confused at the time and couldn't remember cutting it out of anything, I was being fairly methodical but then found it floating around. I have also checked the connectors that go to the dash and there is no sign that it was attached to these. I can only presume it is put there for use on some models and not connected on others.

Lol, I have been fighting spaghetti hell for the last couple of days. I been connecting all those wires back up to join my loom back together, there are over 60 pairs

                      Cheers again paul

Rev5 attached then with more notes on this to keep the capture up to date.

Would be wise to fit a T-piece so you can use AEB F1 switch (N/O 1.4bar) as well as F22 (N/C 0.3bar) / G10 (sender for aux gauge) from ACE engine. This keeps your autocheck fully functional and gets you the aux gauge.

You can add a few wires to AEB loom for that to nicely bring them into the cabin.

Afternoon paul. I dont have autocheck on my car at the mo, also dont have trip computer either. I had one for a while but the screen bled so I removed it. Also I became very OCD about looking at the MPG lol.

I have been playing with the spreadsheet all day and think I now have most of the connections sorted. I think I found the reverse light wires in the loom on the car and can join in at where I cut at the bulkhead.

                          See what you think :
