The wait is killing me... I have a house full of parts, including this little lot which I picked up for when she rolls back - I am now officially out of budget and have no more money left for the moment to spend on the car (aside from money to pay Aidan) so things will be fairly slow until either the car comes back or Galahad drops 4+ balls in my favour
I tell you what, getting a pot together at the start and divying up a budget into sections called Wheels, Engine, Trim, Exterior, ICE has really helped me stick to the plan, just need to get some cheques in from clients now to keep moving forward.

Big shout out to Will (Colesy) for selling me his seats and pointing me in the direction of Fat Audi 80's RS2 Recaro Leather Seat Reconditioning thread - gonna give it a go soon...

re the water pump, the oem one has plastic impeller, a "spurious" branded one form say Lemforder should have a metal one. Metal is preferable.
If it's a new oem one that was fitted a while ago should still be OK, when on a finite budget.
VAG may have fixed their plastic ones where the shaft turned, but the plastic impeller didn't spin, and slipped on the shaft.
Probably not a vital issue, but just so that you are aware of it.
Kind regards.
Second page, in particular but all pages interesting.

Google translate made it difficult for me to fully understand that process, but woah!!! the end rests on those Bimmer seats and S4 steering wheel blew me away - thanks Thuppu.
Did I understand it correct that the seats were sanded with 1200 grit first? that part is scary...
Thanks Fat Audi 80 for the thread - its my blueprint!Comment

Any further updates on this? I've been following it with interest
I'd also be interested to know which clutch you ended up going for? I'll be buying mine this month and am likely going to fork out for the Spec kit that bikerjim got for his 1.8t conversion

Cheers buddy - will check it out! those Bimmer seats are gorgeous
So, not much to report on the update front. We're stuck...
Aidan is waiting on the loom, which is coming from Tonks, but he's had some problems with the wrong connectors being supplied - I spoke to him earlier and hopefully he will have it all sorted by Wednesday and I can pick them up and drop them into Aidan.
The theory is that everything will take a couple of days to finalise once he has the loom in, he can finish plumbing the engine in, finish the exhaust fitment, start her up and get her mapped out. The bumper is in progress, should be settling down from being painted now, and will just need to be mounted once the engine is sorted.
The car is my daily driver and its been really hard being without it for the last 7 weeks (and expensive renting transport for work) but all good things come to those who wait and I feel like its in good hands with BahnstormComment

Gotta say that thanks to Thuppu & Fat Audi 80 for the steer with regards to the leather - being that I am currently stuck waiting for the loom I figured I had no excuse but to focus on prepping the interior changes, so I set about the front seats with 2 products from the furniture clinic and my Autoglym leather cleaner - loads of rubbing and sweat later and this is the result - more than impressed I have to say!

This was the worst bolster:

The finished product:

To go with this, I managed to bag a set of rear seats with bolsters and headrests from an Audi S4, via ebay for a mere £102.01 - the only problem being that they were in Thornton-Cleverleys, but a rather helpful chap called Andy Dunn from Classic Audi is bringing them down tonight on his way to work in London.
Major props to him!
This is what they looked like in the ad, generally in good nick, but I will be treating them to the same process as the front seats!
