I checked the paperwork that came with it and it was from Audi, even the bag had audi part number stickers on it. From what I can recall there was two types, one with fog recesses and one without.
I'll admit it does seem odd that it doesnt align perfectly at the ends, but all the bonding points around the rim of the black bumper trim are perfect, so not sure why its out

mate, I really appreciate you posting that - makes me feel much better! but I have to say... WTF Audi? I mean, you look at their cars now and they are super-tight on styling, how the hell could this be left to pass with such an alignment difference?
I guess at the moment I will get it sprayed up as is and see if it proves to be one of those things that piss me off longer-term or actually can live with. If its the latter I will have to get it chopped and bonded before being aligned.
I to say, and many may disagree with me, but I love that colour on your wife's car, it really is unique and looks the nuts (shame about the scrape tho

I have never really noticed the mismatch in the finishing points of the bumper and spoiler. Sadly the car does not looks quite as nice as that now. It has been the family workhorse and is now a bit more of a snotter! You can see the bad rust in the photo which has only got worse. There is bad lacquer peel on the bonnet and it has been key'd a couple of times....
Don't sweat this one, I don't think you will notice once it is painted and fitted. It least you know it is genuine!
Cheers,

I really want a B3 16v quattro. I know they are like hens teeth, but I had a mint one once and loved it....
I don't have time to restore one. I barely get the chance to wash my cars with two youngs kids...The Perfectionist

progress
OK peeps, been a while since an update as things have been slow with the loom, originally Tonks had the loom - via acidburn - but had all manner of problems getting the right pins in order to build a patch loom and avoid hacking into the 1.8T & 80 looms, as it turns out, after a jaunt to and from Mansfield, I brought the loom back to Bahnstorm and Aidan is now going to hardwire it in this week and get the engine running.

Bumper has been cut to accomodate the intercooler, which has now been mounted on custom brackets and connected using RS4 pipes

The bumper has given the car a slightly more aggresive look and I think it will still be quite sleeper when painted up and fitted properly.

Cold Air induction feed is in and partially connected - it needs to be fed into the front bumper once it has been sprayed.

And finally, after grafting together the supersprint, S2 and Passat pipes, Aidan has managed to build a custom exhaust that is in place, but not in its final fitment position (I think he will finalise that when the engine mounts have been adjusted as its just touching the subframe, so the xhaust will likely protrude less in its final place)

So, hopefully, this week will see the car back and running in, it needs the wiring, some belts and final bits doing, so fingers crossed!Comment

Good progress, hope to loom isn't to much of a nightmare.Comment

SORN'd... we were making progress as the loom went in and the engine started, but, the immobiliser - although deactivated - was still looking for signals from the clock and the ignition, which meant that the engine would only run for 3 seconds and cut out.
So, loads of ringing around, and loads of companies that won't touch it with a barge pole... ended up sending the unit to BBA Reman with a view to setting it to free run. Things were always going to be tight in the turnaround with the unit expected to be back Wednesday.
Despite a very thorough and detailed conversation, including payment and an instruction to send it to Bahnstorm via DHL, they managed to send it to one of Aidan's previous clients, down in Kingston Upon Thames (via Royal Mail)...
Turns out the recipient is a stellar fellow and has since sent the ECU back up and it is now in Aidan's possession, ready to go into the car for testing and setup before tidying all the final bits, but the reality is, it could have been much worse, involving a hunt for a similar ECU and so on!
Unfortunately, the Tax runs out at the end of the month and the MOT on the 4th of April... so it's legally off the road, after 4 months of curveballs, stress and headaches that have been beyond our control. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought of giving up on the project and selling off all the various parts, but seeing as we are so close now, I am hoping that faith will be restored soon, a new MOT can be slapped on it, taxed again and burning up the asphalt.
Aidan must want to see the back of the bloody thing too, having had to walk past the front of it for nigh on 16 weeks already...
Lesson learnt tho: Dont undertake a project on your daily driver, make sure you have transport as a backup and try not to kill any postmen on the way!
How you guys cope with a car being worked on for over a year I have no idea, credit to you all.
Anyway, this isn't much of an update, but it has been cathartic voicing frustrations
