Did a careful test-drive with the dox bog today. Its insane
I need to practice a lot to get it perfect. Also there is a noise when coasting in third gear i need to sort-out. And it is a little rough on the drive-train when drive normal on the street
As said there is a noise when costing in third gear so i removed the gear-cluster again. I noticed the 3 gear is rubbing. When on power it is pushed away from the gear and when costing it is pulling it to the gear. I have to think how i get this fixed. And i was also a good excuse to test my new snap ring pliers
I dont know. As far as i know there are 4 shims in the gearbox. Non of them effects the 3 gear. I used a lot off spare parts to build this gearbox. Bell-housing from a small first gear box, rear section from a DSY box, main-shaft is a wide gear and the dog first gear is a small one.
The guys how build the dog-set already did take 1mm from the gear as you can see in the photo to get room for the dog so maybe i will just take a bit more off the gear and by done with it.
I removed the shaft and mounted it on my lathe this evening. I was afraid it was to big for my lathe but it fits perfect! I only have to get some new sharp bits to cut with before i try it.
