    00513 - Engine Speed Sensor - G28

    Not ideal...

IAT - Will test it this weekend but have ordered the plug which I hear often breaks down.
ICV - Had a replacement ICV since the codes were first pulled, so will need to look into this.
    N80 - No idea.
N75 - Discovered this was unplugged when the codes were first read, the fact it still flags when plugged in is concerning. I have a new valve waiting to go in, and would like to replace the 8" section of loom that plugs into it. Any help onj a PN & price?
G28 - This is a new one. Again, no idea.

I read this in one of UrS4boy's excellent articles 'You will get a code on the engine speed sensor as failed if you retrieve the codes with the engine off, i.e. false positive.'

I assume this explains the 00513 code as I took them with the engine at Ignition II, not running?

My 3B IAT is soldered to the loom, ABY has a plug. I think you can upgrade to a ABY plug setup.

S2 central has the temp/resistance if you want to check

Is the carbon canister valve plugged in? You do not need the carbon canister, but you need the valve to be plugged in so as not to get a code.

You get an engine speed sensor for engine not running.

Thanks for the link. I've been out and inspected the wiring (it's soldered on) and it looks in good condition. I checked the resistance and got 475, which sounds right for as cold a day as it is today
Should I put it in boilding water to see if the resistance changes?

Was doing a bit of digging and came across this:

Component - Fuse on 3B Engine - Status when this fuse blown

            Fuel Pump - S13 (15A) - OFF
Diagnostic Plug (Black) - S21 (10A) - Runs without OBD
            Wastegate frequency valve - S24 (10A) - Limp-Home Mode
            Idle stabiliser valve - S24 - Limp-Home Mode
            Carbon canister solenoid valve - S24 - Limp-Home Mode
            Heater for lambda sensor - S26 (10A) - Runs
            ECU B+ Feed - S27 (20A) - OFF
Holding Relay for Air Mass Sensor - S27 - OFF
            Fuel Injectors & Air Mass Sensor - S28 (15A) - OFF

            (info from http://www.s2central.net)

Probably not a coincidence that 3 of the items I'm getting fault codes for all go through the one fuse.....

Had a day off today so put it to good use.

Replaced the accelerator pedal with a new item.

Pulled out the air con radiator and coolant expansion tank:

              Just a bit nicer :

Went digging for the aforementioned fuse to check if it had blown. The fuse wasn't there at all! Stuck in a 10 amp fuse and cleared and re-read the fault codes.

              From 4.... to 1

As usual with the S2, 2 steps forward one step back.

                  Look familiar?

3 month old dealer regulator cable has chewed itself where it mounts to the motor.

Absolutely gutted after the woes of fixing it last time. The only saving grace is that after all the hassle last time, as soon as another early regulator popped up I bought it was a spare. I never opened the box and it's sat in my garage since it arrived, so fingers crossed it's the right one and in good condition

                    Visited my super-mechanic friend today

                    Oh dear:

                    Old kit.... nice paint job....

There's a moose loose aboot this hoose!

New caliper and handbrake cables on:

Some **** has coated the rear of the car in about 2" of underseal, making everything a joy to take off, not. Half way through the exhaust install:

Looks a wee bit better! Just a bit of tweaking to go:

Question... what's missing from my cats? There are two holes venting exhaust gases to the atmosphere! Should there be plugs or something?

Test ports IIRC, mine have a bolt in them.

                        What exhaust did you get?

Ah, I'll order the parts in the pic above. What's the legality of my car not having cats if it was a 3/91 model?

I got the exhaust from Mikes2 on here. I'd guess Magnex from the part numbers but I'm not 100% tbh. It's very quiet, a bit boomier than OE but not 'sporty', which suits me fine

Cat date is some time in 92 IIRC, my 92 3b runs de cat pipes.

You looking for a set? I am taking mine off to fit a different exhaust.

I'll see how much Audi want for the OE bits, if it's more than a couple of quid then it'll just get bolted
